Try looking at the correct picture, you are looking at the measurement of only the shock body which is 11.2. With the shaft fully seated it's 14.5 and fully raised is 22.5, now you've got the 8''. 22.5 - 14.5 = 8 YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Does this fit the aeron chair?

You need to find out the diameter of the old cylinder and check against the new. It seems a pretty standard size for office chairs as far as I can see. Getting the old out and the new in can be hard work as these rely on friction and weight to sit in the base as well as connecting to the seat. There are video's on YouTube. Check Aeron cylinder replacement there and see if anyone has posted

Does it come with the tool required to remove the old cylinder?

No, there are no tools included with the cylinder. There are instructions online for removal, the technique that I use primarily involves a 2# hammer. If the cylinder is really stuck into the bracket on the seat bottom, you may need a vise and a punch to hammer out the top of the cylinder. Step by step instructions are too long to detail here - search for a video tutorial on YouTube.

Depends on what size cylinder you are replacing. I bought this to replace a 4 inch and it was too high. I bought a 6 inch and it worked fine. No sagging even with my 250 lbs
