When it arrived yesterday, it was even better than in the photos. The illustrations are delightful, with the opening page to each play containing drawings of each character and who they are. The stories are rewritten in a style that is accessible to older independent readers, but is also appropriate for read-alouds with younger children or less confident readers. Of the Shakespeare books for children that I've bought over the years, this is my favourite.

A really nice collection of Shakespeare stories with lovely illustrations. I would agree it’s for 7+ depending on reading age (even as a book read by an adult to a child). My son wasn’t very engaged with it when I first bought it but picked it out a few months later. The books of a nice quality and does a good job of simplifying the stories. Recently revisited the book with my son as he’s doing MSND in year 5 and I thought it would be helpful to refresh him on the plot. He was very proud to tell his teacher he already knew the story!

10 and 8 year olds. Neatest part: they knock socks off teachers and other adults with their Shakespeare knowledge. It’s hilarious to watch.
