The price obviously is really good...** A: The quality is great. They last a very long time and my clothes are fresh and clean with out artificial anything. The only thing that ever gets pretreated is grease stains. I also boil them to make a cleaning solution. I use this on counters and walls and anywhere I need it. I also use this solution to dampen my cloth diaper wipes. It works great and is gentle on baby's skin. I love these soap nuts! **Q: 1. What do you do with the bag of soap nuts between loads? Do you hang dry them in the bag? How does one know when to compost or discard them?** A: Ours sometimes just stay in the washer for the next load, sometimes end up in the dryer with the clean load of laundry, and sometimes we lay them on top of the dryer in between loads. They don’t have to dry out between loads, but they can. When the soap nuts are broken down into small crumbs, I dump the bags and add new soap nuts. Soap nuts are not fussy at all - put two…three bags in the wash or just one…dry them or don’t. Dump out the used up soap nuts or just keep adding a few new ones to the bags… **Q: Will these work in a cold water wash or does the water need to be warm?** A: I know I'm late to the game but just in case someone in the future has this same question... I only wash in cold water and I've used these for about 3 years. I drop the bag with the berries into a cup of hot water for about 3 minutes and then toss the water and bag of berries into the machine, load in the clothes I sorted while the berries soaked, and start the wash. If I'm washing consecutive loads I don't soak the berries each time, only if the berries have dried in between loads.
