Just get it
I've been using a press and hammer and bench vise for too long. This tool made u joints so much easier. I followed advice on another review and used a hammer to tap the side of the ear while using this tool.So far, I used the large size on a ram 3500 dually front axles, the medium one I used on a discovery 2 front drive shaft.

Yes it works
I’ve seen this tool and other like it for some time but really didn’t have a true need for it so I held off buying one. Wouldn’t you know I have two customers come in needing u-joints replaced. One was a 88 Suzuki samurai the other was a 95 F-250. The knuckles one the samurai were too small for the tool so they had to be hammer out the old fashioned way. The F-250 had 4x4 and it was a ear and life saver. Used it today for a Ford ranger and it was almost too big but I was able to press out all but one cup with it. Great tool. If your were hesitant about buying it dont. Just get it already. I have the medium size too just In case.

necessary for ease of operation
Simple but very efficient - My old jeep has four U joints - ugh.

Where has this been all of my life?
Amazing! It literally took longer to remove the retaining clips from the u-joints than it took to remove them from my 99 Jeep front driveline with this tool. Even if I never use it again it was worth buying from saved time and cussing!!

Not the greatest tool
In principle the idea of this tool seems like it should be good. But the problem is that the cup that fits under the u-joint cap ear doesn't sit square to the u-joint. So when you push on the u-joint the tool pushes the u-joint away instead of down bending the ears. I was using on an aluminum drive shaft and there was no way to push the second cup out without bending the ear. I wound up using it to push out the first cup, then used a grinding blade to cut off one end of the u-joint to remove it, then push the second cup all the way through with a punch and hammer. It worked, but wasn't ideal.

I’m impressed!
I had to change a very rusty, probably original u-joint on the front axle of my 1989 f-250. I was amazed how easily this tool handled it, especially compared to how much I struggled in the past doing other u-joints on this truck with other tools (hammers, c-clamps, etc.). There are cheaper versions of this tool out there, but if your truck is rusty like mine you will need a quality tool that can handle abuse. I 100% recommend this tool, and I know I’ll be using it again.
