No you cannot remove the pop up compartment.

Q: Is this wallet available with a snap closure instead of a magnetic closure? I'm worried cards will get demagnetized.

Q: The sliding switch broke. How can I get my cards out?

I have not experienced that. Mine is still intact. Maybe try to use tweezers to remove your credit cards.
