Primo Chalk - 1LBS Bucket - Fewer Applications Needed for Improved Focus on Weightlifting, Gymnastics, Rock Climbing, Gym

This was the first climber's chalk I had ever used, so I had no idea how superior its quality was compared to other chalks. It wasn't until I borrowed my friend's chalk that I found out that other chalk is so chunky and brittle to the hands. This chalk does much better in retaining my hand's moisture and its powder texture is similar to that of confectioner's sugar. I only need to use a little bit on my finger tips before I spread the rest onto my palms. The little I need makes it last so long! I climb about 2-3/ week and shared over half of the bucket with someone else, and I still have some left a year and a few months later! I repurchased because I am finally running low, but it is definitely worth the price.

I was skeptical at first about the essential oils and was worried that the additives would make the chalk less grippy, but I was wrong. The chalk is very fine and sticks amazingly well to the skin as opposed to regular magnesium carbonate. With regular chalk, I find myself having to reapply after every set, and making a huge mess in the process. With Primo chalk, although more pricey, I’ve found myself using and applying less frequently than regular chalk. This product is great for hook grip and smells great as well. Plus it comes in a nice little red bucket. I’d definitely recommend this product to serious lifters who need that extra grip support.

This chalk is pretty great. My palms get sweaty real easily, so chalk is a must when climbing. Primo chalk is super fine, like insanely fine. It feels pretty amazing. Prior to this, I was using FrictionLabs Unicorn Dust (their finest chalk) and out of the bag, there would be clumps that needed to be broken up, and even after breaking it all up, it was nowhere near as fine as Primo. Primo also smells nice, like eucalyptus or something.As I've said, my hands get really sweaty, and while both Primo and FrictionLabs claim to last longer with less, I can't really tell any difference between them and just a normal block of chalk that I crush up myself, but that's probably cause my hands sweat enough to pretty much wash off the chalk in one climb. Sometimes I still have to chalk up mid climb.I also can't really tell if the essential oils are actually doing anything for my hands but whatever.

I love this stuff. I started serious powerlifting about a year ago and have been using standard magnesium carbonate blocks, which have been adequate, sure. However, the fineness of Primo chalk makes it really easy to thoroughly coat the hands and get lifting. It doesn't take much, and this one lb. is going to last quite a while. One dip into the bucket will get me through an entire lifting session, but I usually return two or three times simply because it feels so great on the hands. Powerlifting is hard enough on the hands as it is. The scent was a bit overwhelming at first, but it mellowed after a few days and now I thoroughly enjoy it; it's something like a cross between eucalyptus and cinnamon. The sealable bucket is an added bonus, and I will definitely purchase again down the road.

Love this chalk, it’s very soft and powdery plus it smells good too. Would give it a 4.5 stars and the reason why it is not a 5 is that after I Deadlift, their is barely chalk on my hands after each set of 12 so I have to keep applying more chalk but honestly it’s worth the money for a pound!
