Aquabeads 32788 Beginners Studio with flip Tray, Various & Jewel 79178 Bead Pack - Multi-Coloured

As shown in my pictures, on the front of the box there is a clear image of a full bead tray which is false because what arrived was a bead tray with eight empty segments which would mean that you have to buy refills to complete it, which is a little bit misleading. Not sure if there are over 840 beads, but there are sixteen colours.The problem is, after you spray it with water and leave it to dry for the recommended time, you're supposed to flip the bead tray over onto the blue flip tray instead of scraping it off but usually what happens is the beads all fall apart, and then they're all sticky, so the design gets ruined. A little fiddly to work with.

I suppose the clue is in the pack name "Beginner". Bought for our 4 year old girls and our "Arty" daughter took to the Aquabeads straight away making gift for school friends and family so a big hit with her. Our other daughter who has no patience and heavy handed started mixing the beads and also got wet hands on the beads whilst handling them as the applicator pen jammed. I like how engaging this product has been for one of our daughters so if you have a child who loves colouring or drawing maybe methodical in nature then I would say this product will be a big success /hit, on the other hand if you have a child who is very impatient, disorganised and clumsy (most are I would suspect at 4 years) then I would give a miss.As for the end produced part (s) - they look ok and easy to produce however a bit basic. Our one daughter loved making and gifting them and I suppose thats was the intent of the purchase - so a happy parent.Overall a good idea however I would only recommend for a certain type of child as described above.

I received the item on 25th of June and only opened it today as it was a birthday present for my 4 year old niece who loves arts and crafts. It was upsetting for her to open it and discover that 2 pieces, the pen for picking up and distributing the beads and the spray bottle to wet them and stick them together, are not in the box not what you want at a birthday party. it's not as advertised. The missing items are pictured on the back of the box and everything so if it was returned with missing pieces they should have said that in the description. It is sold as 'New'. Contacted customer care and eventually they agreed to a replacement which is a relief. And they agreed that I can send back the original when the replacement comes because I didnt want to take it back off her now either

Bought this for my 5 year old son after he had seen his friends making aquabeads. He is now obsessed and loves it. We’ve had to limit the amount he makes a day now otherwise we would be drowning in bead creatures. Highly recommend and it’s especially good for fine motor skills.

Bought this for my sons birthday as he's always wanted them, nice set got him started but we then bought the safari set to get more colours and that's a much better set as has way more beads and colours and ideas. This is good for a small set though.

Bought for my children. Good value set with everything you need to get started with aqua beads. It is a bit fiddly for my 3 year old but my 6 year old really enjoyed it. A great way to get him to sit quietly for half an hour. He could make the models independently and spray the water but better to have an adult do the flipping out because the models are a bit flimsy until they dry. It says they take 15 minutes to dry but we leave them for a couple of hours as the last thing you want is for them to play with it in excitement and it fall to bits. Lots of fun for the whole family. We will definitely be buying more beads to top it up. You get enough to make lots of models in here though.

Normally not that keen on buying things like this as they normally get used once then forgotten about. But I have to say the kids are always making stuff and I have had to buy more beads. Its pretty easy, even my 3yr old uses it although she just does her own designs and I have to spray them because she isn't strong enough to use the spray bottle and to be honest my 7yr old struggles with that too as you need to push it pretty hard to get a good spray. But other than that it keeps them busy, they like making stuff so this is ideal

Excellent starter kit, my LO loves to design the different pieces. Works really well, but does take longer than the allocated time to dry.The only downside is that the little compartments for the beads can be a little tricky for younger users to collect into the pen when needed. My LO has ended up picking them out with a pen and then pushing them into the pen, ha!
