Loved this fondue set. Although it takes a while to heat up. Recommended to give some heating time to heat up to melt the cheese.

Back in the 70s Fondue was all the rage. I found this set with a cast iron pot and realized that it would be much better at retaining the heat than the sheet metal pots that we had used in my youth. The set arrived and to my delight the pot is well made and heavy duty. It will get plenty of use as if it were a dutch oven. (I have a lid that fits perfectly). The rest of the set, burner and forks is a bonus.When it comes to actually cooking beef at the table (boeuf bourguignon or even shabu-shabu). I have found that an electric Induction Cooktop is much better than any flame based burner. The induction cooktop controls the temperature precisely, the table below the cooker stays cool, and the cast iron pot works great with induction heating.I am using an old 1300w cooktop that came with a copper chef set. But Amazon sells them seperately.

This cast iron fondue pot is solid, heavy and beautiful. It sits well on stand, so no sliding around or off, which some pots seem to do. When I ordered it , it was $39.95, then in a few minutes, as I was contemplating getting one more the price went up to $43.95. ?? in just a few minutes!! What's up with that?

Terrific product that is not only beautiful, but holds heat perfectly. The base is not very attractive but the burner works very well with recommended gel fuel. I wish it came with a top.

I gave this to my husband for a Christmas gift last week. We have not used it yet, but it looks like a very sturdy and good fondue set, to replace our old, thin stainless steel set. Although the forks are all black, with no differentiation, they are made very well. My husband painted the tops so everyone will know which fork is theirs. Will write back after we actually use the set.
