Highly recommended
I have tried about half a dozen bread knives but this one is by far the best. Holds nicely in the hand and easy to control, cuts through sourdough bread perfectly. Donโt waste money on others, just buy this one.

Sharp like a serrated samurai sword
I bought one of these Bread knives for work. After I used it (mostly slicing acidic fruits), I had to buy another one for my home. It is very sharp, it is beautiful to work with. Not only for bread, but for everything, which you like to slice. From roast, to vegetables. Not a chefs knife, but definitely one of the most versatile knives around.

Good in all respects! I've had many bread knives through the years (I'm past 80). Some were sent to me as promotions, some came with knife sets. Some cut well but leaved beaucoup crumbs. This Mercer knife is beautiful, although the handle must have been carved from a branch from the humble tree. You know the one! You will see its beauty when you use it - it gives a great grip and the angle is perfect. Crumb left from cutting bread means wasted bread and a rough surface on the slices; this Mercer knife is configured to leave very little crumb and the cut is clean. The wavy cutting edge and innate sharpness makes this possible. Most bread knives actually act like a hand saw by ripping the bread instead of cutting. Bah. I mostly use it on sourdough bread - crusty stuff. No problem. Can't wait to spatchcock my first chicken with this baby! Worth the bucks.

The best bread knife ever, I loved it. It cuts off sourdough bread easily, which is hard to cut if you know what I mean;)

Exceptional value. Works much better than bread knives costing many times more than this. The grip is very secure and the edge does not skitter over top of very crusty bread. Cuts through cleanly and efficiently. Knife is not too thick and heavy or too thin. It really is the perfect bread knife and the best one I have ever tried. Very satisfied with it, to say the least. Highly recommended.

I have purchased many bread knives over the years, always trying hard not to spend a fortune on any particular knife, sadly this has proved to be a false economy though, if I'd known what I know now, I would have just saved up and bought a far better knife the first time, hindsight can be a wonderful thing! What I can say about this purchase is that, thus far, I am very impressed! Yes, it's certainly not the cheapest, but saying that, it's also far from being too expensive. I have used it to cut very fresh, artisan bread and it has coped very well. Applying very little pressure and sawing away, sliced the bread evenly and as thinly as I wanted, without destroying the loaf! I like the extra length to the blade than all previous bread knives I've used. It feels well balanced too and obviously, nice and sharp. Even though this is strictly a bread knife, I actually tried it to carve a roasted joint of beef and it sliced that nice and thinly, an excellent result! Some other reviews have mentioned not liking the texture of the handle, but I don't have any issues with that at all. I pop mine in the dishwasher and it appears to be holding up well. I would say, considering the price paid for this bread knife, it is well worth buying, I am very impressed! Hopefully it will last, only time will tell, but certainly the best value bread knife I have ever bought and I've had quite a few!
