Can you use this for kindle books?

Not easily, and not without making changes to the book files. The Kobo reads 14 file formats natively (EPUB, EPUB3, PDF, MOBI, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF, TXT, HTML, RTF, CBZ, CBR). The Kindle formatted books are AZW format, but it also works with MOBI, PDF, PRC and TXT files. If your books were purchased through Amazon for your Kindle, you would not be able to natively read them in the Kobo Format; but you might be able to convert the file format to one supported by the Kobo Forma. It depends on whether the book files are secured with DRM (file security). I read while composing this that most AZW files are copy protected by Amazon's DRM.

Why are all the 1 and 2 star reviews submitted by people who do not show "Verified Purchase"?

A certain large retailer sells Kobo products for significantly less than Amazon does. That's probably a factor.

How come the text says this is 8" but the specs say: 3.35 x 6.97 x 6.3 inches?

8" is the diagonal size of the screen, the typical measure for phones, tablets, e-readers, computer monitors, TVs, etc.

Can i transfer my pdf files from a pc??

Yes! Just plug the reader into the computer and press "connect to computer" on the reader screen. The reader will appear as a drive on the computer and you can transfer your files.
