I used wood filler on a crack. Will this work now to cover the wood filler with a color?

Not really, this is used to fill the scratch with the correct color. You might try the Mohawk color markers that should be able to color the wood filler or remove the wood filler and use the fill stick. Hope this helped.

Does this product harden?

It hardens well in the holes the product is designed for but beware the product will stain wood around the outside of the hole.
