what is the difference between the smart switch and the unmanaged switch?

Unmanaged switches are plug and play - connect one of the ports to your existing LAN via Ethernet to receive additional physical Ethernet port connectivity via the switch. The Easy Smart variation offers some basic management features such as QoS for a Lag-Free Experience, IGMP Snooping for Multicast Optimization, and VLAN for Security.

Are all ports capable of 1000mbps?

Yes all ports are capable of 1000mbps. Ex: My home internet download speed is 400mbps, I use cat6a cable for all connections starting from modem to router to switch and finally to all wired devices. All ports have green lights when device is on indicating it is running anywhere from 101mbps to 1000mbps then when I go to speed net I can check my speed on each device and am getting my full 400mbps that I am paying for. When I turn device off lights turn orange indicating speeds lower than 100mbps because my port is off and inactive.

can I connect with ethernet cable to my fire stick tv and my laptop and use them both at the same time?

Yes. You can plug an Ethernet cord from your modem into this box and then cables from it to 4 devices to share your connection.

What port would you plug the lan cable coming from the router into on the 24 port gigaswitch ?

All the ports of an Unmanaged Ethernet Switch are plug and play. You can, therefore, plug into any of the 24 ports.
