Yes!!! First time it will give you epona than after that you'll eventually get the twilight armor set through random drop rate and other assortment of weapons and armor

I have him imported from Japan and he works here in America.

Can i use it and then give it to my kid so he can get epona too?

As long as you and your kid have two different saves, then yes! One Epona per save file! Just be sure to activate the Amiibo in a field where horses are already walking around. Some areas cannot have horses running around, this will ensure you don't accidentally spawn Epona somewhere you'll have to abandon it. ALSO, register Epona before your turn your game off, otherwise you'll have to use the Amiibo again!
