Betty Crocker Cookbook, 12th Edition

I wanted to start collecting Betty Crocker cookbooks so when I ordered the 13th edition B.C. book I ordered this one (12 th edition) as well. I really like this one better. This one from 2016 is easier to work with as it is not as heavy as the other one. This comb bound edition has over 1500 recipes and 1000 photos. There are a variety of recipes so you will find plenty of meal ideas to chose from. On days when I am not sure what to cook flipping thru this book has been helpful by looking at the photos and picking what looks good. I love that the nutritional info is there as well. I have made several of the recipes and everything has been very good. You will find delicious recipes in here for any occasion.

The same Betty Crocker cookbook I love and remember from 20 years ago. I can always depend on Betty Crocker for simple, easy-to-make delicious recipes with ingredients you usually have on-hand in your kitchen. Nothing fancy. Just good family meals. I’ve already given copies to my daughter and my sister. I hope this cookbook never goes out of print.

I have used the Betty Crocker Cookbook for over 50 years and my mother before me. It has helped make me the cook I am with not only recipes but helpful hints and step-by-step instructions for practical cooking techniques. This was a gift from a young woman who I taught to cook. She has always wanted her own and now that she's getting married, this was my gift to her. She was thrilled, by the way!

Thin paper, bound too tight to turn the pages without tearing. Very badly organized. For example, there is a chapter on beef, pork and lamb, but within the chapter everything is mixed up together.The original picture cookbook and also the B.C. cookbook from the 80's might not have had such innovative cooking ideas, but at least you could FIND what you were looking for!And who needs the cooking instructions, when most of the recipes ask for a mix, or a can of something! Given the previous editions, I expected something better. Disappointed.

10数年前に買ったbetty crockerのレシピ本は写真も少なく、読んでいてもさっぱりピンと来なくて本棚の奥に眠っていました。久しぶりに何となく検索してみたらこちらがヒット。若干悩みましたが思い切って購入しました。この本では、後ろ表紙の裏にアメリカの単位換算表がついていますが、何と言っても表表紙の裏にある食材の換算表は凄く役に立ちます。Onion, chopped 1/2 cupなんて書いてあっても、いったい玉ねぎ何個分なのかさっば分かりませんでしたが、この本で疑問が解決しました。他にもサワークリームはヨーグルトで代用可能とかアメリカの料理がぐっと身近になりました。もちろん英語で書かれていますが、写真も豊富で見ているだけでも楽しくなります。色々と試しながらアメリカの料理に挑戦してみたいと思います。
