Initially had problems with the recognition of the device on my iPad. Re-installed software and all ok. Great item although it didn't work on my iphone 5 but on other iPhones I have, iPads, and Mac's, it did the job.

You need to download an app, that’s probably the only downside. And its USB 3.0 so the speed copying to pc is about 40-60 MB/s Otherwise, it has everything you want it to have, ease of use, organization, convenience, and sturdy build.

I'd spent years messing around, trying different leads etc., just trying to take photos and videos off my iPhone reliably. Had issues with the iPhone not showing up in Windows when I plugged it in and when it did show up it would often only be able to copy a small number of files before the connection conked out. Tried this device and it absolutely nailed it. The software is user-friendly and well thought out and I've not had any issues copying files from my iPhone to it (I don't typically need to go the other way, although that also seems to work well). The one stand-out gotcha here is that you'll need to make sure your phone is well charged before copying a lot of files, as you don't want the phone losing power half way through. But of course you can't charge your iPhone while this device is plugged in because the socket you'd normally charge through is occupied. Perhaps you might be able to use one of those charging pads if you phone supports it. As far as I can tell, though, data from applications aside from videos and photos (e.g. "Voice Memos") are not shown in the software, so I doubt this device will help with those situations. (I'm not actually sure what will). An extra feature I've not yet tried is the ability of the software to sign into your Google Photos (presumably accessing everything you have stored online) and copy those to the device. This sounds nifty, but at this stage I can't yet vouch for it. Apparently it can also back-up your phone's contacts and calendar. Not sure I need that to be honest. It goes without saying that the iXpand will be useful if you're going on holiday and need the ability to empty the photos and videos off your phone part way through. You can move your photos off the phone onto the iXpand device (do a copy and it asks if you want to delete the originals on the phone when copying is complete), or just do a copy (keep a copy on your phone and one on the iXpand) and use that as a way of backing up your photos just in case you drop the phone in the ocean or something. There probably are extra features they could add, but what it does, it does well.

For someone who was still stuck on iOS 13 and had little to no storage left on my iPhone XS Max (256gb), buying this was a no-brainer. You need to download the iXpand app on the app store to be able to use it and at first I was a bit skeptical due the recent reviews that were posted- However, after about half an hour or so of using the app, I managed to transfer about 70gb worth of videos into the usb with no complications whatsoever! (Actually theres one tiny issue where when I try to play a preview of a video as I am selecting the videos I want to transfer, regardless if you choose "start over" or "resume" the audio will automatically play and keep going until you exit the app. Sometimes it would play again when you go back into the app so make sure you check your videos before selecting otherwise it can get annoying if you accidentally try to playback a long video. This is just a small bug that I wanted to mention but can ignore once I have an empty library lol). Also, you can create new folders in the app if you want to organise by months or years and so on. Which is great because the app lets you sort with which view you'd like to use e.g. list, grid and time line view, like how it is on file explorer for pc. My phone did get a bit warm and the usb was warmer after a period of time (70gb worth of 1000+ videos within approx. 30-45mins I wasn't timing properly sorry but thats what if felt like), if you're worried about the warmth I recommend doing transfers in small batches. Overall, I'm very happy to have made this purchase. It's so easy to use! It's pricey but Amazon has it cheaper than in-store retailers anyway. If you're looking for a reliable usb to use as a primary extended storage for your iphone then this is it. Highly recommend this product to anyone who needs to free up space on their phones fast! p.s. dk how to rate the warmth but i just assume that 5 stars meant "hot" and 1 star "just warm"

Io vado ad iPhone dal 3g in poi fino al 15pro di oggi e non sono mai riuscito a digerire la mancanza di cartelle indipendenti per rigovernare quelle migliaia (e adesso centinaia di migliaia) di foto ammucchiate in un unico posto. Questa chiavetta ha un software semplicissimo e basilare che è perfetto senza bisogno di tripli salti mortali carpiati che ti obbligano usare parti di altri software, o ti rimandano a siti, abbonamenti ecc. È autosufficiente, si auto installa ed è pronta all'uso; intuitiva e veloce, permette di creare cartelle con sottocartelle all'infinito per dividere e organizzare foto, film, documenti, dati sensibili e personali. La velocità di trasferimento è direttamente proporzionale alla quantità di dati da trasferire: 10 foto un nano secondo, 100, qualche secondo; tutta la Divina Commedia in testo, 10 secondi. Sono stato tentato da altre chiavette che offrivano più capacità di memoria ad un costo tre volte inferiore ma non me la sono sentita di rinunciare all'affidabilità che già conoscevo per risparmiare e trovarmi con qualcosa che forse non mi garantiva quello che offre questa piccola meraviglia. Va da sé che la consiglio vivamente, no?

This is my 3rd piece as I used it for my iPhones , iPads etc. It’s a practical solution to have the iXpand as an additional backups. My wish is that it comes in higher capacities eg 512G to 1T.
