Does the bar come off or does it have to be connected to the trampoline?

It can be taken apart with tools. Also, it can be folded if you take it completely apart like it came in the box. There is no easy fold and store mechanism, you basically unscrew the legs, take 4 bolts out of the handle structure, remove two cotter pins, and then you can fold it up and put it in the included bag. This is NOT something that you can take down and set up quickly at the whim of your children and then store under the bed or in a closet. If you need to take it to Grandmas house then that is fine, but it is not designed for immediate setup, it is designed to be left up.
