Love it as my first gouache set.
I was so excited when it came. As a person who does watercolor a lot, the first time I use gouache is kind of hard for me to change the habit by using too much water. I hope I can get better.I love how they come with a palette, and all the space of the colors was full. The best thing about this product is that they give you two white! Bad thing I did was when I first got it, I open all the color which make me later have a hard time to keep all them as clean as possible.I feel this gouache set is not good for taking out cause the paint may spread a little bit after you move from place to place(that may because I opened all the colors)I also have to use a watering can keep them from drying(cause I always open them while I'm drawing)I may come back for a second one, hope they not going to change a lot.

What is on the cover? @.@
Pros:Very vibrant gouache works well with watercolor or opaque techniques. There is a lot of paint in each cup and 18 cups. It comes in a sealable case that keeps the paint from drying and comes with a simple matching pallet that works just fine. It’s light and easy to hold with a few dividing bars. The value of this set is very good for the price. It has 2 white cups and a good array of other vibrant opaque colors.Cons:The lid seals but with the pallet in the case in bends uncomfortably so I don’t usually store it in the case. It will work, but precariously. The pack is very heavy so I wouldn’t use it for light travel. I mean it’s wet gouache in cups so I doubt it would travel well. These paints are not labeled with any specific details like light fastness or even the color name. I don’t think they are light fast as the paint crumbles a lot when it’s left to dry on the palette. I had thought to keep the wrapper tops off the cups because they had a lot of paint on a few of them, but the paint crumbled so badly it practically turned to powder. It listed here on amazon that the white tones would be different, but I don’t think they are. Many of the paints separated as well, though it made it easy to see how much pigment was in the violet color. I think after getting this even though the paint is vibrant, I think I prefer tubes for wet paint. Each tube would be labeled and I could get whatever colors I wanted rather than having to buy the case over again. Plus if you get these you have to be careful to not accidentally mix the colors in the cups unless you want to change the whole hue of the cup of paint. Which makes it slightly less beginner friendly.Over all I think the value is good for the price. These are student paints so whatever you paint with them won’t last the ages but if you are just sketching, practicing, and just playing around, then they work well.P.s. The logo on the paint has some sort of, abomination, for a mascot! I don’t know what in the world it’s supposed to be, but it’s frightening.@.@

Great for a beginner!
I purchased this as my first set of gouache, and I have to say it's already my new favorite medium! the colors are gorgeous, they blend super well, and they stay super opaque as long as they aren't heavily diluted. The jelly cups are genius, so after a color runs out you can refill it with color from a tube. The lid snaps on tight, and the whole thing is actually larger than I expected; it's actually bigger than an ice cube tray. I read in a couple reviews that people had an issue with the paint getting on the little plastic palette when it's kept inside the lid, so I just keep it separate. Just as a note: the bright purple came a little separated, and still separates a bit over time, but just give it a stir with your brush or other chosen tool and it's perfectly fine. I would recommend using this on thick paper, as it is paint that acts as a cross between watercolor and acrylic. I've been using mixed media that's a 98 pound paper, and also toned tan and gray that are 80 pound papers (if you do art a lot, you'll know what this means, otherwise, the higher the number the thicker the paper; printer paper is about 20 pound and watercolor paper is about 140).TL,DR: BUY THIS!! You will not regret it. Amazing, great price. 11/10 would recommend!!!

My Favorite Gouache Set Ever!
Gouache is still a new medium for me, and I have use a few other brands, both student and artist grade before, and have had lackluster results. It was definitely frustrating. This set has made me appreciate the medium a lot. I actually now enjoy using gouache, because of this set! Let me get to the pros and cons:Pros: -Cute packaging and design (I feel that the presentation of this product also helps me have fun using this set). -30 ml cups of gouache-This is a LOT of paint, I've being using them so much, but there is still a lot of paint left! - Miya Arts actually offer refills for these paints, so if you do end up using it all up, you have options to replace the paints(and with colors of choice)! -Vibrant colors and can easily be rewet. The 18 colors are a great starter selection, and beginners should not be intimidated by mixing. Intermediate painters will enjoy this as well. -There are 2 whites! This set has a zinc white, which is useful for mixing, and a titanium white, which is great for highlights and coverage. -The wide mouth of the jelly cups are great for those who like to paint large, using large brushes.Cons: -It is heavy. This set is marketed as travel friendly, but I do not agree. I think this is more suitable for studio/home use. -The extra mixing palette that is included is the same color as the box itself. This can mess with our perception when mixing colors. I rather that it was white. -This isn't an issue for me, but for those of you who are professional illustrators and sell your work, these paints have no lightfast or pigment information. That means that there are NO guarantee that any of your paintings done with these gouache will last 10+ years.I definitely feel that both beginner/hobbyist and intermediate gouache painters will enjoy this set. It is lovely to look at, and will last a long time. The most important thing is to have fun painting, and I have not felt frustration at all when practicing with these paints. A must have in any artists' art supply collection!
