I got to a point where everything seemed to upset my stomach. I couldn't eat rice, beans, dairy – everything I ate seemed to give me weird stools, bad gas, bloating, and even palpitations. I actually read about this specific probiotic in a nutrition book, it was highly recommended for leaky gut and other digestive issues. For the life of me I cannot remember the book and it's currently packed away in a box in a storage unit – but once I unpack it I'll try to remember to update this review to give the name of the book. Anyway, I had been on probiotics before, different brands/types. None of them seemed to help as much as this one did. I tried 2 pills (which is a full dose) at first and it upset my stomach. I went to 1 pill (half dose) and it didn't upset my stomach. I did 1 pill for maybe 3-4 weeks. Then moved back to 2 pills and I was able to handle it better. This was probably 8 months ago and I have been on 2 pills ever since without issues. I can now eat things like rice, beans, and dairy without my stomach getting upset! I highly recommend this product and if you take it and it upsets your stomach, try a half dose for a while and then move back into a full dose.

As a matter of fact, I have been feeling horrible for the last week! I have heard you can have something called a "herxheimer reaction" when for example too much bacteria or yeast die off in your gut too quickly. Then you get these awful "die off" symptoms which are bloating, heartburn, gas, and just general malaise. What I've recently read says that if you reach this stage you are on the road to wellness. I just hope I can hold on that long. I am currently taking one pill per day, all I can tolerate. I used to take this product religiously until 3 yrs ago. When money started getting tight I let a lot of items go, unfortunately I should have kept this one. I took probiotics daily since the mid 90's and never had stomach trouble like this. If I had been shopping at Amazon back then, I never would've stopped b/c they are very affordable here. Guess, my gut has gotten out of whack not to mention my diet took a turn for the worse due to the economy. I'll update my later progress. ***UPDATE*** It's been 3 1/2 weeks and I feel better even better than I did before I got back on this probiotic. Other family members have had trouble digesting certain meals lately and I've had no trouble whatsoever. I also sleep better now without all that blocked gas which was so uncomfortable. If you have side effects in the beginning, stick with it b/c it is worth it. I still only take one a day b/c that is enough for me and dosage I took previously of this product. I take it with good size meal and lots of water.

My husband and I have used this brand for at least 12 years now. I cant say if its helped or made a difference, cause we've never been without it. But never gives us issues!
