Trout season is upon us and I needed a basic kit for the youngest daughter to start her journey on learning to clean and gut her own catch. This was a very simple, basic set that wasn't overly expensive, overly fancy, and yet still did exactly what we needed it to do for her.The knife was sharp and gutted quickly and efficiently and the gloves very much protected her hands, as proven the first twenty times the knife slipped when the hubs was teaching her what to do lol. The descaler didn't require much hand pressure to clean.

Very comfortable and easy to work with

Everything worked well here. I was looking for a knife to fillet a fish. The scaler and gloves were also included. They were invaluable for a novice like me. The scaler worked well, and the gloves were important for safety. I would highly recommend!

This is an excellent knife for cutting up your fish. The curve is absolutely right, the flexibility of the blade is right on point and this thing holds the edge! Last week I had to fillet 10 chinook salmon on a bank of a river. Prior to this, I used it on rainbow trout and some walleye. Even with chinook salmon, after 10 fish, the knife remained relatively sharp and I had no issues finishing the job at hand. I have to say, for salmon, I would probably go for a slightly longer blade, but even in this configuration, this knife performed!

The gloves and knife are good...the scraper is small and flimsy

It is what I expected it to be, just what I was looking for.
