Contains all the highlights of te E.L.O. era including some of the best songs / outtakes that have never been released before. Not only the chart topping hit singles but the best songs according to and selected by Jeff Lynne. What more can you ask for?

The first couple of discs here are unremarkable compilations of songs available elsewhere, but disc 3 is laden with rare and unreleased gems. In particular, the track 'Hello my old friend' is what happens when Jeff Lynne starts having fun in the studio, complete with soaring string sections, weird effects and children singing 'Frere Jacques' in the background!!! This track dates from the Secret Messages era, and why Jeff didn't use it at the time I'll never know. This album is a must for ELO fans.

This is one of the top "The Best Of ELO" collections. I've owned it for years, and I never tire of listening to this. I always loved their "Beatlesque harmonies" and layers of orchestral strings, horns, etc...At their spacy and celestial sounding best on this one!
