Wanted to improve my health and have more energy but 4 days in my bowel cannot tolerate these pills ... always bad with herbs so I should have known better.

KSM-66 is the best form of ashwagandha you can buy. It’s the one which has been scientifically tested and proven effective.I was pleased with the effectiveness of this brand, and it’s comparable to other good quality brands I’ve used before (I used to use Jarrow ashwagandha). It’s nicely calming and mildly energising. I can only take it for short periods as it boosts thyroid function, and I already take some natural thyroid replacement. It’s one of the few supplements I’ve found that gives me energy without being “buzzy” (I hate this and can’t tolerate caffeine for this reason, it just makes me jittery) and calming without making me drowsy.The main 2 downsides for me with this, which applies to all brands of ashwagandha are this:1) when I first start it, it gives me a headache and shoulder ache. Magnesium seems to help this a bit, as does drinking more water than usual (I drink plenty, but have to drink more when taking ashwagandha since it’s a “drying” herb).2) when I take it for longer than a week then stop, I get an unpleasant withdrawal. I feel tense and on edge. This goes away within about 3 or so days.All in all, I would happily recommend this as much as any other reputable brand’s KSM-66 ashwagandha. However, for me it’s not an ideal supplement. I can only take it for a couple of days at a time without risking the withdrawal if I stay on it longer…but the headache issue only resolves when I take it for longer periods. Catch-22!L-theanine has proved to be more suitable for me, since it’s calming and non drowsy, plus immediately effective on the same day I take it (works within 30 mins or so since I use a chewable version). Mentioning in case it’s handy for others!

I have used various brands of Ashwagandha for a number of years. When you find a brand that actually works, the effects on stress and sleep can be amazing. I have been under a great deal of strain with moving and then the sudden death of my father. At one point I found it difficult to cope and switch off my mind. My cortisol levels increased and I began to suffer.I am a great believed in Ayuverdic cures and Ashwagandha is one of the most potent herbs in this area of healing. It is an adaptogenic herb which helps you adapt to stress, depression and also low libido. I have tried a number of brands, some good and some have been utterly useless. This product is not strong enough for my needs. I end up taking two tablets instead of the normal one. The other brands I use have been using 800mg to 1000mg per tablet, so this is almost half the dose I usually take. If I take two pills, it does work, but then the product offers poor value for money. Please remember Ashwagandha does not work immediately, but over about 4 days I find greater calm and my sleep goes from non-existent to about 6 hours.This is a good product but does not offer great value when compared to some other brands. I am happy to recommend it if the dosage of 500mg per tablet works for you.
