Meet The Misfits
Meet The MisfitsbyRob JonesGlenn Danzig and Jerry Only were founder members of The Misfits. This pair of players were the core characters of a 1977-1983 line up that had the punk v horror mix of the American legends at its most potent. After this period the band separated before returning without Danzig and Only has held the reins until the two united in September 2016 for live action! Therefore, an album release of chat from the two main men in The Misfits story is extremely pertinent as the contemporary tale of these street survivors enters a new chapter.Danzig is the star of The Misfits X-Posed and as such his words are gold to fans of these nuclear noiseniks! Glenn has been very selective about Misfits discussion over the decades so it is interesting to hear him freely talk about those all important early years. Glenn offers insights about his act but also other renowned forces on a sonic scene that was mostly underground but totally overwhelming. The conversation clearly classifies that America had punk potency that witnessed a busy, buoyant and brutal scene at a time when the parallel movement in the UK had far more media attention and also scored a great deal higher on the notoriety front. At the time Glenn had moved on to another challenge and he has entered a new era with Samhaim. However, he takes some time to look back-but, obviously things have gone full circle as he has now gone back to that potent period as the dynamic duo of Danzig-Only is once again the black heart of The Misfits. Only features in the mix and he informs us that Dave Vanian of The Damned could have become the lead singer of The Misfits had he taken up a request to join the crusade. The Misfits certainly come across as a band that cares about their fans and as such go that extra yard to reward them. The legendary images and those famed t-shirts have given this combo an identity outside of the music-and, memories of a personal meeting with the guys present at a Cardiff Coal Exchange show in September 2007 made it crystal clear that this gung ho group are LOUD! It is forty years of The Misfits in 2017 so delve in to their files and find out about some of the history of these hard-hitters!

Very rare interviews with Danzig concerning Misfits.
This little gem is very odd. I'm pretty sure this release is not in any way official and with Glenn and Jerry having rights to the band and logo...this cd may not be out for long. The good thing about the cd is that most of it is an interview with Glenn Danzig. As many know, Glenn rarely has much at all to say about The Misfits nowadays, so it really is nice to hear him speak very frankly and openly and for the most part in a positive fashion about his time in the band. The last few minutes of the cd has interviews with Jerry Only that are pretty informative as well, but not nearly as interesting as Jerry has always been very open to interviews and has always been very frank about the band.At first I was a little confused as to when this interview took place, as the cd gives you zero information about the interview at all. However, if you listen closely to the tv in the background you can clearly hear an SNL introduction with John Lovitz as a cast member...and it sounds like the host is John Lithgow, who only hosted once and that was 12/07/1985. So barring that this was not a re-run in early 86...it's pretty safe to assume that the interview took place between Dec. 1985 and first qt. 1986. Which would be about right as Glenn mentions being in Samhain at the time and Danzig did not come along until a few years later...which is when he started pretty much having zero to say about the Misfits.SO...if you are a true Misfits fan and really want to hear a RARE interview with Glenn about the band...this cd is for you! Most people will find it dull and boring unless they are hardcore fans...but for those into vinyl it is a must have as Glenn seems to have a memory like a steel trap in relation to number of copies/variations released for each pressing of old Misfits vinyl.I really enjoy both Glenn Danzig's solo stuff (for sure this last effort: Death Red Sabboth)and Jerry's current Misfit lineup....BUT...it sure would be nice to see all of the original lineup back together again....Glenn, Doyle, Jerry and Robo back together.Also....WTF is that one person on the cover...it looks like a chick snuggling up to Jerry....maybe it's just a bad pic. I know Glenn mentions there being a female guitar player in the early years...but this was before Jerry joined the band...so I have no clue who that is on the cover.
