Wargate Hockey Lower Face Shield Cage (Adult Hockey Helmet Visor & Mask Accessory)

Don't know how it took so long for someone to release a product like this. You don't see much innovation in hockey outside of skates and sticks. This is everything I want in a mask. I hated the loss in visibility from a full cage, but also didn't like any of the hybrid masks I tried. They offer little to no flexibility, so if the built in visor wasn't what you were looking for, too bad. With the Wargate lower cage you can pick whatever shield you want and get the shield that matches your needs and budget. Field of view is incredible and yet I dont have to worry about getting my teeth knocked out or my face sliced open. If I was an NHL player getting banged around I might worry about the cage getting bumped around, but for beer league with minimal contact it is more than enough protection from contact while also keeping my face and teeth completely safe. Played my first game without a chin cup, may try next game with one just to see what works. Without was fine, but mentally I was looking for the chin cup the entire game, and i worry a little about taking a hit and having the metal cage smash into my chin. Cons - was a little tricky to install, but only about 10% harder than just installing a visor on its own would be. Just a lot of loose screws and other parts to hold all together at once while getting it put on. I ended up using my wife as a 2nd set of hands. Not sure I could have done it all myself. It's also a bit pricey for what it is (a wire half cage) at $80, but it got me to the result I wanted and there aren't any better options out there.

This cage in combination with the visor are amazing. It's nice to feel fully protected, while having unparalleled visibility. I never have a problem with the visor fogging up and it's always nice and clear, I can breathe and I can see. Amazing product!

Bought this to add to a half visor for roller hockey. Visabilty was good and took no time to get use to . Sold protection for me in Rec roller league. Wish it came with better instructions or even online help. Not much on YouTube but i figured it out . Add a little blue thread lock to the screws to keep them from backing out. My existing visor doesnt fog. Overall im happy with this product and would recommend.

This is a great facemask. I have always played with a visor because I don't like trying to see through the full face cage. But since everyone usually has the full face shield, people get a little lazy and sticks get up. More protection is needed. The full plastic face shield is unwearable because it fogs up quickly and then has zero visibility. The one piece combo that has a plastic visor and a metal cage for the mouth are usually pretty heavy. So this ingenious half mask is the perfect solution! It fits with an existing visor, giving me the visibility I want while providing me the protection I need to avoid costly dental work! Great product. Highly recommend!

when I take a quick look at prices of brand new cages for adults they're $34.99-$69.99. this product uses less material, has no no chin cup or straps but is over $100? doesn't make sense. it has no directions in installation and apparently you're supposed to bend it out of the shape it comes in by hand to get it to fit, good luck if you break it doing so.

This is honestly, the best thing to get if you want to use your visor and still have Lower face protection. I played with it, and it didn't get in the way or anything. I would honestly go with this instead of a hybrid because of the flexibility you have with the visor, not to mention if the visor breaks or cracks, you can just get a new visor Of your choice. Taking the helmet off is super easy as you only have to unbuckle the bottom strap and not two like with a cage. It was super easy to install and it doesn't Come loose easily. The only Negative thing I would say about this Is that it sticks out a little far, and It doesn't sit flush with the visor.

The cage worked great with the face shield I bought as well. A bit tricky installing both at the same time so be patient. Use the spacers between the shield and cage and the longer screws which are included are a must. I can’t comment on the airflow yet as I had to install a mask to the cage (CCM brand) due to COVID requirements at the rink, but I can tell it will be everything I was hoping for, great visibility with the shield and awesome airflow with the cage!

First, I returned this after trying it on because I didn't feel it was worth the price. Similar quality full cages cost half as much. With this, you still need to buy a shield. The shield and cage hybrid combo mask cost less. I wanted to like it because I like my shield and I felt this would give me great air movement to prevent shield fogging. When I had it on, I could not get it to close the gap enough to stop a puck from going between my shield and this cage. Not only that, since this is fixed, it is harder to slip my helmet on and off. I'm going to try a hybrid shield with cage that pivots at the top. If this were half the price, I would have given it a better chance.
