They are more like a night light, not bright enough to read with. I am sending them back.

Not Bright at All
The light is not bright at all and barely lights the top half of the shade. Though the ad said easy to hang with included hardware... there was none I had to use my own screws and the back did not remove so you could secure the base to the wall first. Also, the switch didn't work it could not be moved so the light was steady on when first put together. I took the battery compartment out and unscrewed the switch to find that it had been glued. After removing this mess I was able to get the switch to work. The metal is sturdy but overall a lamp that throws so little light is not worth the purchase. I have ordered a similar priced IKEA lamp that has E26 bulbs which I know will cover the area. Shame it is the right look for the room but doesn't work well at all.

The light itself is like a small LED flashlight
The light itself is like a small LED flashlight. It sits down inside a metal bit of the lamp and therefore does not illuminate anything below. It shines straight up and does not put out much light at all. It is "nightlight" quality/quantity of illumination. Not a bedside reading lamp at all. It is made of good strong material and it is an attractive sconce. (I am using it's parts and putting a real light bulb in it.)

Excellent battery operated lights!
Bought 2 of theses lamps, as a gift for my sister. She mounted them in her gazebo. They give just enough light to look pretty. Great light without the need for wiring. Perfect. Battery operated and the remote works! perfect for what she was looking for. They truly do look nice! Would have given 5 stars, only I think they are pricey.
