It was easy to adjust the length and use right out of the package. The handles are metal and have a rough grip. The rough grip did not bother me but, a friend used it and said she didn't like the "feel" of the handles. The rope is very light in weight, I've used ropes that are slightly more weighted. I've been using it for about 5 days and I really like it. There isn't anything unique about this rope but, it's a great everyday jump rope.
