since when does garden of life put fillers in their supplements, including magnesium stearate?

Living Vitamin C is one of our earlier products, for which we use a vegetable source of Magnesium Stearate as a flow agent during the manufacturing process. (It helps keep the ingredients from sticking to the manufacturing equipment.) This product is made with over 90% Organic ingredients, and contains no artificial colors or preservatives. How do you calculate the total mg of vitamin c in this product? is it the 250 "vitamin c"+ 1140 "living vitamin c complex" for a total of 1390 mg?

Good question! Our Living Vitamin C provides a total of 250 mg of Vitamin C per 2 Caplet serving. When all 3 blends (the Vitamin C Complex, the Whole Food Citrus Blend and the Organic Antioxidant Berry Complex) are analyzed, the total amount of Vitamin C is 250 mg.

Malodextrin, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide... why?

Magnesium stearate is a chelated Mg that is harmless and possibly beneficial. It's used to produce the tablet shapes you get with this type of whole-food vitamin.  Silicon dioxide, or silica, is an anti-caking agent that is harmless and is found in plants we already eat. . Maltodextrin, on the other hand, is a sugar. I also would like to know why they add this. When I see it on a label, I avoid buying that product whenever possible.
