It hits just at or a bit below my shoulder line. I have no problem getting all my hair on 5 rollers. In fact, I've been known to get it all on just 3. I'm looking at this set to replace a set like them that is well over 20 years old. That set has served me well! The lid did crack - but it's still functional. The longest way, (side to side) is 7", next (back to front) is 5-1/4", top to bottom 4-1/2". I don't think they say in the description, but these don't come with the wire "U" shaped pins which would fit in the little well you see in the front of the unit. They come instead with the plastic clamp/comb type holders that you would have to put in a separate baggie. Some people say this adds extra bulk to the luggage.
