Since they seem to be recurring so frequently, when I discovered Petnostics, I thought this would be a good resource for me to "pre-scan" the specimen at home rather than take a sample to the vet every 2 weeks, which was getting costly. Because I need to check her so often, I asked my vet about Petnostics. He was not yet familiar with their product and sent me home with a vial of 100 test strips (Siemens) for $75. The Siemens strips test for the same 10 items as Petnostics. I tested with both yesterday. The tests came back with similar readings (great job Petnostics!). I say similar because the Siemens gives a more specific range of results. Nonetheless, Petnostics showed blood in the urine (not visible to the naked eye), high Nitrates and high Proteins = probableUTI. I highly recommend Petnostics for the at-home screening for occasional use. It is convenient, easy to use, no mess, fairly priced. As Petnostics states, it won't fully diagnose your pet, but it will give you information to help make your own decision about whether or not to take your pet to the vet. The Siemans test strips are cheaper and more suited to the chronic situation such as mine. They are individual strips, no cup, no collection tray, no gloves...figure on getting your hands "into" the project. I would only recommend this route to the totally committed owner with a pet undergoing chronic issues. I took the urine sample to my vet and upon further testing, yes indeed, yet another UTI. I am giving them 5 stars because even though my first test results disappeared somewhere, rendering the test useless and being out the cost, Petnostics responded and sent 2 more kits right away. Update 2/10/17 Petnostics sent me 2 more kits at no charge, they felt badly about my experience (and so I have upgraded from 1 star to 2). For some reason the initial baseline tests have indeed disappeared from the universe. I will try again and will update my review accordingly 2 scans, 1 minute apart different results. Wanted my first test to be a healthy baseline (we just finished 4 weeks of antibiotics for a 5th uti in 18 months). Came back to the app a few minutes later to review what were now Past Results and Android app wont let me view them...so no baseline. I tried this because of the Shark Tank investment and because it was advertised in this month's Costco magazine, 2 pretty good endorsements. Too bad for Shark Tank and Costco, they are going to get a lot of bad press. I emailed [email protected] a day and a half ago, no reply. And until I saw the ad in Costco, I had never considered testing my dog's urine to save a little on vet bills and to keep a closer eye on her uti. With the poor performance of the Petnostics and wanting to write this review I discovered a whole world of testing options. My next stop will be at my vet's office to ask which of the at home options would be best suited for my dog's needs. Review: Wanted it to be good so bad...... It let my family down - After reading the reviews I was a bit worried this test would not work. Not only does it not working it is scary. So you are concerned about your pet who you love more than anything in the world so much so that you are willing to collect their pee mid stream. You have noticed major changes in your pet and want to find something that will help you understand what is wrong. My wife and I are unable to have kids so our dogs are our everything. We bought two tests so we could contrast and compare the results. We did one test the first night we received them. They have you catch the pee and then put the lid on and turn it upside down for 1 minute. After the minute you turn it right side up and they have you take a picture of the results on the top of the cup. The program then compares the test strip results with what they have as normal. The first test came back normal. So I decided to take another picture of the top 10 mins later which should make a difference in results and it did it now showed that she had high levels on three different things. I took three additional photos and found that the angle you take the photo and the varied amount of lighting makes a big difference. So the next day we tried the test again and it showed normal results when we followed the test exactly. I then immediately tried the test 7 subsequent times taking a picture of the top. One said my dog was high on everything it tested. At this point my wife was so concerned with our little baby girl of 10 years that we drove all the way to town to have her tested by the vet. Vet found that she has Diabetes something that only 1 of the 13 tests showed as high. Not only would I not recommend this product to anyone I feel that it is so inaccurate that the company should be ashamed of its self. I really wanted this product to be the thing that I could buy three times a year to test my dogs to know their health condition. Rather it is a product that stressed my family out to its core. Please save yourself the aggravation and heart ache and do not buy this product. Update: I wouldn't place much value in the reviews after 03/01/2016. Suddenly there are some 5 star reviews without verified purchases after they appeared on the TV show shark tank. Amazing how that works. Even a 5 star from someone who clearly stated that they only watched the show and have never used the product. I hope you do not waste your money on this product. Go to the Vet if you are concerned enough to buy this product. Your pet's life is worth it.

I wanted a home test to keep a check on my two small dogs health. I brought this when it was on offer (ยฃ4.50 each) to try out. I downloaded the Petnostics free app (Android) before I purchased the product, to ensure it would work and i successfully registered my pets. It arrived the next day (amazon prime). Inside the Petnostics box is the urine container and lid which is sealed separately. I successfully collected urine from my female dog and male dog with no issues. (I didn't need to buy the female urine collector- sold separately). Then load the app, choose your pet. Follow onscreen instructions; Collect urine Secure lid tightly Flip cup upside down Flip cup upright Wait for 60 sec (the app times it) Then Align Lid- This is where I had problems. You need to align the lid with your phones camera, for it to scan to give you your results. I could not align the lid, the lid is round but on my phone the lid alignment was oval. After a few attempts it, the app then said it wasn't compatible with my phone (Samsung 6 edge plus) and I would have to take a photo: "Manual Image- 'It looks like we're having trouble detecting your cup. Tap ok to take a photo for manual processing.' You then take a photo of the lid. Take the photo within 1min or results maybe inaccurate. Once you have your picture press ok and it will email the photo with your details to the company. You then have to wait a day or 2 for results to be emailed. When I received my email, they told me to log out of the app and log back in. My pets results were waiting for me. It tested the following: Bilirubin, Blood, Glucose, Ketone, Leukocytes, Nitrite, ph, Protien, Specfic gravity, Urobilinogen. You can then share the result with your vet or print them out. Which Is good as I'm not a vet and not sure what the levels need to be. It does give you some guidance e.g one my dogs 'Bilirubin' result showed a small trace and it says "Bilirubin is a substance that is produced in the liver and should be negative in your pets urine. A small amount can be normal for healthy dogs, but large values may be associated with liver disease. Please consult your vet for more information." I really like this idea, but it needs a lot more work. Petnostics is an American company and they need to improve the UK apps. The iPhone app looks a lot better (only judging by the photos and videos online) and when my husband changes his mobile back to iPhone I might buy this again when its on offer and see if its any better.

Well I can't even give this a proper review due to it being sold on amazon UK and the app that you need to download to use the product isn't yet available in the UK so it's now sitting in the cupboard they shouldn't be selling a product in the UK unless you can actually use it very disappointed as I'm sure if it could be used as advertised then it would possibly have been a useful product. Update may 2016. This product is still bad however you can download the app for iPhone. So I did try and do this on my husbands phone however it is so difficult to get a sample with the cup provided I have a Pembroke corgi so she's low to the ground so could only get a small sample so I went through the process that the app asks you to do and no readings came up so I still found it dysfunctional. Plus you a ring re-use the cup so it's very wasteful. Don't waste your money
