Because you fill the pack with water, it will not last any shorter than normal ice. Actually the polymer inside will EXTEND the period and at the same time will prevent the water from LEAKING and MELTING, this way it will keep your food nice and DRY. I sometimes use ice blocks on my face. They melt in a minute or two. When I use this pack, I can't hold it long enough to see any change, it stays like I've just taken it out of the freezer.
