In 1936 Sylvia Shaw Judson sculpted the now famous Bird Girl statue, standing five feet tall and cast in bronze. One of the four commissioned sculptures stood in Savannah"s Bonaventure Cemetery until 1994 when a photo of "The Bird Girl" appeared on the cover of the best selling novel, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" by John Berendt. And suddenly, overwhelming notoriety! I am so sorry I did not buy her sooner. During March 2020 Shelter in Place I watched Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil again and remember how she had touched my heart the first time I watched the movie many years ago. I hope to visit Savannah one day..it is on my list. and maybe one day I will buy the larger one for my garden...In the meantime I will enjoy her now.

A: The actual sculpture is dark gray metal color. I have my “Bird Girl” inside my home with a display of family member’s photos that have passed. It’s a nice remembrance.

Absolutely stunning in person! Wow. I am so impressed with the weight and the quality of this piece. She is absolutely lovely. I am so glad that I purchased this authorized version by the estate of the artist, rather than a knock off. My husband and are so pleased we may purchase a larger size for our garden.
