Most YouTube capo the 1st then hold the string at whatever fret is closest to the body then slide the feeler in between usually the 8th. So the tolerance is different. So technically they're both right. Depends on how you do it. **Q: How to use use this gauge on Taylor Baby, which is a short neck. Same way at 6th fret?** A: It should work on the 6th fret. HOWEVER, it works very well as it purports and the size is convenient for carrying in your case or gig bag. The Music Nomad video about how oily other gauges from tool sellers is not an exaggeration. This does the job, the white on black is very easy on the eyes, it's not oily, and IMO it's great for checking neck relief and making adjustments as needed. It looks to be durable and I'm am more than pleased with it, its use, and the measurement accuracy. Simple to use.
