Great Range Finder
The Garmin Approach Z80 is very easy to use and has great features. I have also used the Bushnell Tour V5 and I prefer the Garmin. The 2D course overlay is great, especially when I play a course for the first time. The ability to see where the flag is relative to the layout of the green is also a great feature. It locks onto the flag very quickly and you get vibratory as well as visual feedback when it's got the distance. It also reads the slope to the pin giving you a more precise distance on which to make your club selection. The one very minor problem is that it takes about 30 seconds to boot up and identify the course I'm playing. Whereas the Bushnell is all optics and startup is immediate. However, that being said, if the Garmin was just an optical device, I would not get the 2D hole layout and the other information about the location of bunkers and other hazards. Using the Z80 makes golf much more enjoyable because I'm not looking for distance markers or guessing the distance from my ball to the pin. I recommend the Z80 for any golfer

Just a bit unreliable
In many instances the device is just inaccurate. You would look at the green, it’ll show you front middle back, and then you check the flag, and you see the flag is clearly in the middle of the green but when you shoot it it gives you the same yardage as the front edge of the green 🥴. So many times it does this, makes you wonder how they tracked the course in the first place when they came to map the place.Battery life is ok, works about 3 rounds for me without problems.I’ve owned the device about 2 years now and I’ve written to them about how they need to map courses better but they don’t seem to really care, they expect you to just shoot the flag and go with that. But you paid to use the course mapping feature so you would expect it to be a bit more accurate than this.

So good, it feels like cheating.
My only complaint about it is that it takes a few seconds to “wake” but it’s still one of the best rangefinders on the market.
