Great format. Gives the basic chart
Great format. Gives the basic chart. And adds suggested chord voicings and suggested scales. Good for beginner and intermediate players (I'd like to think I'm in the latter!).

This really is a step up from the first volume. The 7th graders who are using this book need a bit of guidance on how to build the road map through the pieces. Also, sometimes they look at the key signature and say, "OK, we'll do this one later." But the ones that are within their skill set sound really good. It's nice to have some harmonies in the head. And the piano and bass lines are really helpful. I recommend this book.

Make sure you get the right version
This book comes in C, B-Flat, E-Flat, and Bass Clef editions. I don't know which one you'd get by ordering here, but the cover photo is for the C version.

Great teaching/learning tool
This is a great teaching and learning tool for the beginning jazz student. The inclusion of basic piano and guitar comping lines as well as suggested bass lines alng with the lead sheet make this a syllabus for tutoring a combo in the art of jazz improvisation. It is much more than just a fake book.
