We needed a long cabin latch to keep an external door open and this one seemed like a reasonable value. When I first fitted it I was not expecting it to hold out as the door is in a real wind tunnel but even in some recent horrendous winds it held fast. Admittedly I used bigger screws as I knew just how windy the location was and also slightly angled it downwards but I would have done this with any latch of this type. It hasn't rusted after 3 months and that is a good sign as we are in a coastal location so nearly everything gets corroded quickly. Perhaps it could be a bit sturdier but that is nit picking as it is holding fast!!!

To be honest when this arrived I did not think it was sturdy enough for the job. The door in question was one of two outer doors 6ft x 3ft fire doors so very heavy. Because they are on the outside of a building they are in direct wind so when open the doors take a buffering. It has now been on about a month during that time we had 40 mph gusts and 34 mph winds the hook is still secure as the door had to be kept open in relation for exiting due to covid entrance exit requirements on the building when open. Only down sides and this is where it lost a star, the wall mounting plate section only has 2 screws to secure on wall, so I used longer screws and the other part was the screws provided were about 3/4 of an inch long, ok for a garden shed or gate but no where long enough for what I required it for so I supplied my own longer screws. Long story short, good sturdy product doing the job well and I am happy. As for the screws supplied ok for very light weight use or supply your own for more sturdy requirements.
