Super value.
Packing for shipment could be better. It comes 90% assembled. In my case, though, some hardware had unscrewed itself in transit and was loose in the box, which had a hole in it. Everything was there, fortunately. It took just a few minutes to put the stray hardware back where it belonged and add the lower tray and upper canvas holder, which is all the assembly that should be required. There are no instructions, but assembly is pretty obvious. It would be difficult to go wrong. Once together, I was delighted with the sturdiness and the variety and ease of adjustments. The mast, lower tray, and upper holder all move independently. The independent mast movement means ceiling height won't be an issue. The whole frame can be adjusted to lean pretty far back or beyond vertical so it leans a little forward.

Solid
I have two of these now. They support my large, heavy wood panels I use to paint indoor/outdoor works of art. Can accommodate 6 x 4 sheets. Lays flat for storage. Very heavy duty. Love the built in tray for brushes, erasers, narrow tools. Knobs on all joints for easy adjustments. The center mast can rise higher than I can reach to paint. Five minutes set up out of the box. No screwdrivers or drills needed. High quality and will last forever, IMO.

Assembly Problems
While the description states that the easel is 90% assembled, it comes in a narrow, long box and is completely unassembled. Also four screws were missing. If you purchase this easel you must assemble it yourself and make a trip to the hardware store.

Perhaps the Best Easel I've Owned
I was pleased that this easel arrived very quickly. I had it within a week of ordering online. I was rather eager to put it together and to use, so was very amazed to see that only the bottom canvas rest/tray and the top canvas holder needed to be assembled to the main body. I remembered, having read other reviews, that it came unassembled and was difficult to put together without directions, so I was happily surprised at the ease of assembly. I, too, did not have directions, but only having two parts to attach was a breeze. It probably took a total of 20 minutes from opening the box to having it all put together. This is a very sturdy, rather pretty and functional easel. I have not placed large canvases on it yet (to see how it handles), but it looks as though it can easily accommodate and steadily hold them. I am incredibly excited to start a grander piece.I gave it four stars because the box arrived with a gaping hole in the front and there were small pieces (bolts, washers and knobs) that were shaking around loose in the box. Other than that, I adore this thing! I can't wait to further wear it in with lots of artistry, love and those ever-errant drips of paint!

Carolina Studio Easel
This is most likely one of the best easels on the market. Yes, it does not have instructions or drawings how to put it together; therefore I would recommend getting help from some person with ability to get clever answers to constructions challenge. No big deal. The problem is middle section where sliders are present but not correct size to lock them with matching bolts, and this is easily solved by drilling 7mm deep and 1/16 inch wider holes. I do know it explains nothing until you see what the problem is. LOLAnyway, this thing is piece of art in woodworking. It appears judging from the picture there are discrepancies in details, but general idea and design remain. Real nice product.

Be careful...
The easel is sturdy once assembled. The directions are terrible, worst ever, and I am very mechanical and handy. The parts, namely the screws are terrible quality, strip easily. The package looked to be previously opened and a small piece was broken. Some parts were already assembled. Decided not to go through the hassle of returning it. Only good thing, other than being fairly sturdy, is the wood is good quality.

Low quality but works
The 1/8” wood on the back of the easel was peeling off. It had to be re-glued. Also the wood is roughly sanded.

Excellent buy!
My 31 year old son is dabbling in drawing and painting again. He's quite good at it. He needed an easel because he paints on canvas. He selected this easel from the hundreds found on the internet. I bought it for him for Christmas. He loves it! It is very well made and comes basically put together. It does come in a fairly large box so just be aware that it takes a lot of wrapping paper!
