Worked right out of the box
When my Logitech Squeeze Box WiFi died I needed to find a replacement. The replacement was a Raspberry Pi 3B+ loaded with piCorePlayer/Squeezelite. However, the sound from the Raspberry Pi 3B+ headphone jack left a lot to be desired due to the software Analog to Digital Converter. The solution was the HiFiBerry DAC2 Pro which worked right out of the box. The Squeezelite settings tab let me select the HiFiBerry DAC2 Pro as the Audio Output and the default settings worked fine. Additionally, I cool the Raspberry Pi 3B+ with a brushless fan so the auxiliary 5 vdc connector on the DAC2 Pro provided a convenient source of power for the cooling fan.

Great RPi DAC, not RUNEAudio compatible
This is a great little DAC HAT for the Raspberry Pi (3B in my case). Outstanding sound and a great bang for the buck. I have a DAC Pro+ as well. I returned the first one thinking there was defective as my Runeaudio app did not recognize this DAC2 but does recognize the DAC pro. However this was software related as I downloaded HifiBerryOS and now it works like a charm. Bought this to have a 2nd RPi for headphone listening. Could probably be configured but was led to believe it would work out of the box. But recommend HifiBerry to anyone who wants a nice DAC for their Pi setup.

More expensive that general purpose Bluetooth to wired audio solutions, but still good!
The only real downside here is that with the cost of this and a Raspberry Pi you are paying well north of $60 for something you can probably get off the shelf solutions for. Oh yeah, and you need a case too! But I do hope that someday I'll find other cool things that this can do that the others can't! For now I use it to connect my phone via bluetooth to some desktop speakers and I know it can do other things I just haven't figure it out yet.

Great DAC
Have had issues with other dac's, i like this one because it just works out of box, it's powered by the pi and not the other way around so no interference with power management or auto on. Using it with raspotify (librespot) on raspbian (bookworm) with no issues. Note this will tie up a few gpio's, look at hifiberry website for the list. Definitely recommend.

Defective
My unit did not work, there was no sound output despite following all troubleshooting instructions from Hifiberry. The amazon seller was unwilling to do anything as the 30 day window had passed before I had time to do any in-depth troubleshooting (which, as anyone who tinkers with Raspberry Pi knows, is pretty required to do anything with them). So, I cannot recommend buying this device from this seller at least.

Great DAC, sounds nice
Easy to connect to my Raspberry Pi 3B. Worked out of the box with HiFiBerry OS, might take some fiddling to work with Raspbian, to ignore the built-in jack. Sounds excellent when connected to my stereo, and using Spotify to play music wirelessly.

Works great with volumio
I'm very happy with this DAC hat. I wasn't using the headphone output but then I realized my little Volumio server could benefit from having a headphone jack as well. There was no Volumio specific setting for this DAC but I used the Allo Boss setting which works great.
