Baby Massage Therapy: Newborns, Infants & Toddlers version 2.0

This is a great gift for a baby shower. I bought this video as part of a gift box. contained a bunch of fun things and a this dvd that will help baby and mommy.

I suppose that this video wasn't too bad. The two guys in the vid are obviously not actors or are not too familiar being in front of the camera. On the one hand, it is quite instructive and the baby certainly enjoyed the massage. But on the other, the monotone of the therapist ran me out of the room within minutes. I will certainly watch it again and use the techniques on my baby when she arrives. But I may also look at some other videos that aren't so dull.

Received a poor quality DVD. It would not play sound in my Toshiba DVD player (I have not had a problem with any other DVDs). I had to play it in my Panasonic portable DVD player in order to hear the sound. Even then, there was loud buzzing and a poor picture quality. I went with this baby massage DVD because it had an overall rating of 4.5 stars, and I was disappointed. I agree with other reviewers that the guy was creepy. The one year old in the DVD kept trying to crawl off the table. The guy said several times how you needed to keep the oil out of the baby's reach, but didn't heed his own advice. I didn't find the DVD very helpful and will continue to look for a better instructional DVD. My husband couldn't sit through the whole thing, said it was too painful to watch. And contrary to the product details and the back of the DVD, the run time was not 148 minutes or even 1 hr 24 minutes, more like 30 minutes!

I have no doubt the therapist is very skilled and knowledgeable about massage. The baby apparently had experienced massage and was relaxed and happy, although somewhat active. Although not so much as indicated in other reviews. I was bothered by the strangeness of the music. It's not typical of what is usually played for a massage, and you cannot hear what the therapist is saying to the baby. It felt a little creepy to me.

This was actually a pretty good video. I bought this video after the baby massage class that I had signed up for was canceled (twice) and it gave me the same type of hands on feeling. I watched it alone the first time (I was folding clothes during my daughter's nap time)so that I could get an idea about the massage. It had taught me enough to give her a mini massage (which she LOVED)later that afternoon w/o the video. I gave her a more indept one the next day while watching the video and again, she LOVED it. I chuckled b/c it the client receiving the massage was very active and I appreciate the demonstrator using that type of child b/c it was very practical. He demonstrated that during massage we take cues from our babies. Yes there were repeated actions demonstrate @ different angles, but it gave you the opportunity to really see what was being done and how to do it. Some of the actions were also repeated b/c they soothed the baby that he was working on and provided good transitions to the next part of the massage. The demonstrator (voice-over) spoke calmy but was very audible. The calming nature of his explaination gave a calming effect to the massage session w/ my baby. I am happy with this video. I would actually give it 4.5 stars.

I'm thrilled I bought this tape. It's provided many hours of insite for me as a young, first time, single mother. I used the techniques given in the tape and it's provided a bonding that I didn't think was possible. I will watch it often and keep it for my future children. I've already loaned it out to another new mom who thought it was fantastic too.

I just recently got this video and wanted to say how pleased I was with its quality and competence of instruction. I had been looking for an affordable, decent video on infant massage to learn some techniques to use on my newborn when I ran across this one. It showed me how to give my newborn massage therapy, and increased our bonding experience. It will also be good for showing me how to perform massage through the toddler years, as it teaches several different techniques.She really enjoyed the massage techniques used in the video when I practiced them on her legs and feet. I also bought a copy for my friend (who has a child of similar age) and she loves it.I would recommend this video to every parent...thanks again and good job!

I was distracted by the fact that they man couldn't keep the bottle of oil out of the baby's reach. Whenever he let go of her I'd get nervous she'd fall. No matter how quickly he might grab for her, she's covered in oil and could easily slip out of his hands and onto the floor. Then she starts grabbing for the cap, which she could easily choke on. He took it from her several times, but didn't put it out of reach like he should have. She even tried to put it in her mouth. If nothing else, this is a great video of what NOT to do during an infant massage.There was very little instructional content to this video. Essentially, what you see is a 30-something minute, low-budget film of a man rubbing a baby down in oil and trying to stop her from spilling the bottle of oil or falling onto the floor and injuring herself.
