The build quality of the Rotring 600 is, in my opinion, flawless. It looks sharp, feels very nice to hold, has a nice weight to it, and it will last you forever. I have two, one black and one red, and will probably add a few more to my collection at some point. They are that good. One thing you should know is that the metal tip of this pencil does not retract. I believe the 800 has a retractable tip. If you drop this pencil, it is very possible that you could bend the tip. I have not had this happen with my Rotring, but I did have it happen to my 0.3mm Pentel Orenz Nero (makes me sad to this day as that is also a fantastic pencil).
