My Favorite EDC Knife, Ever. I Only Wish The Blade Were 1" Longer...
I bought my copies before the price jump (BidenFlation), so mine were an excellent value. Even at over $120 today, I'd buy again. Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT) Knives are great quality, even the less expensive ones without that expensive CPM steel. This one is perfectly suited to carrying all day, it's incredibly useful, very easy to use, easy to sharpen, has a sexy blade shape, is well-designed, and feels great in the hand. I have large hands, so it fits perfectly in mine. If you have small hands, you might want a smaller knife. I mean, it's not that large, it's the perfect EDC (EveryDay Carry) size, but a 5" handle might feel big if you have small hands. I only wish the blade boasted 4.5" of usable blade length, instead of the 3.5" it actually has. Other than that? Perfect!

Tactical Samurai Blade!
WOW! What a suprise when I received this blade! Out of the box, I was first impressed with the handle texture. Great finish and texture without being too "gripy" Small bead texture gives excellent grip but won't get caught up on clothing or belts. Excellent belt clip as well. Just the right amount of tension so its secure in a pocket but not tight enough that it is hard to deploy. Although I must echo other reviewers in that out of the box, the blade is tight and a little hard to open. If your like me, however, after purchasing a new knife, once you play with it a bit to get used to the feel and operation, the blade did lossen a bit and became eaiser to deploy (or perhaps I got used to it!) Excellet ergonomics. Feels great in the hand. Easy to change blade position due to its balance. The Blade....... is awesome! Razor sharp outta the box and in a traditional tanto shape. Its obvious Mr. Williams brought his wealth of knowledge to its design. It would be hard to imagine a modern day samurai NOT carrying this as an EDC! Love the double safety as well which virtualy gives this piece the strength of a fixed blade. The finish on the blade is impressive and I am sure will please those who love the "black tactical" look. I would be hard pressed to find another blade that is stonger, sharper or simply more astheticaly pleasing to the eye. All in all, 5 stars for a VERY reaonable priced knife. Excellent value for this price point. Lets face it folks, the primary use for this knife is personal protection, but I am sure it will have great utility as well. The only improvement I could envision is adding a spring assist (only because I am partial to those anyway). I just found my new EDC!

Truly amazing knife in the right hands.
A lot of reviews had said they had troubles with the assisted opening mechanism, which troubled my decision with my purchase at first... but I figured what the problem everyone was having and ordered it; none of which is a problem with the knife. CRKT is quality built knives and I had my M16 for years until I finally lost it in Tahoe and ordered this one. I was excited today when it finally came and just to my sarcastic surprise, it works amazingly. Very solid, sturdy, and FAST opening. I immediately love this knife. Quality AUS 8 steel, razor sharp edge, pin-sharp point, and a beautiful gentlemen knife in all I think. The blade and knife are designed for one thing and one thing only: combat. The only work this knife should be doing is protecting yourself, and it has the capabilities and qualities to do just that very effectively in the right hands. **As for the assisted opening**: there are no problems with this mechanism, the reason people have problem is because they are trying to open it incorrectly or like a traditional knife. It works differently for a reason, that reason being so it doesn't swing open in your pocket and slash you open. You aren't supposed to try to push the blade up from the handle, you're supposed to push it forward towards the direction it comes out. Almost as if this knife was an OTF (out the front) you push the knob on the blade forward. If this still confuses you, look at the way the handle curves in towards the little knob. It goes a littles forward, use your thumb to follow that exact path and you can wedge the blade out nicely. But the proper way is to take you thumb and push the knob in the direction the blade will point; forward. Hope that helps people (also the book that comes with the knife has an illustration); and once again would just like to say this knife is amazing. Love CRKT, never had a problem with their knives apart from losing them, lifetime customer right here.

Klasse Messer!
