This tape measure does what it does best. With its auto lock function, you simply hold down the button, extend the tape as long as you need, and then release. Then when you're done, simply hold it down again to retract. Yeah, it's got some weight to it, but that's what I like most. This product not only looks sturdy, but it also feels sturdy. Lastly, I got thing to extend about 8ft, without resting it on a surface, before it gave way. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I'm personally not holding it against this project. Not doing any big home projects anyway. All and all, this measure is awesome and gives me a good indication on the quality of Black and Deckers' products.

I got this to replace an old Black & Decker tape measure that I accidentally broke. Not sure what's up with them rebranding to this "beyond" name but the quality seems to be the same. It's a sturdy metal tape, the housing itself might be metallic painted plastic though, but it works for what I need it to and will probably serve 98% of people well for general home use. Good value for the price since it comes with 2, one longer and one shorter. The only thing I was somewhat disappointed about is that these tape measures only have the standard push lock, whereas my old one also had a button you could hold on the side and underneath that would temporarily hold the tape in place without locking or putting your hand in direct contact with the metal, but I could not find an identical replacement unless you get a whole Black & Decker tool kit, but it wasn't a crucial feature just would be nice to have.

Great little tape measures with a somewhat unique retraction mechanism (auto-lock with retraction triggered by pushing down on the base) and a very reasonable price. No issues with accuracy that I've encountered, and surprisingly pleasant industrial design. The plastic body likely wouldn't hold up to actual contractor-level usage, but for the 'home gamer', it seems durable enough.Put the big one in the toolbox and the other in that junk drawer we all keep the random stuff that we want readily available in.As an aside, the large one is maybe the perfect tape measure for tabletop wargaming like Warhammer. The auto lock is a godsend, the blade standout is well over 36 inches and the unique retraction mechanism is uniquely suited to the sorts of measurements done in those games where you're typically holding the measure's body the whole time and then can just squeeze to retract it.

Black and decker never disappoints. This is just the right size. Makes measuring large things or rooms easy with larger numbers
