Black Gold Natural and Organic Raised Bed and Potting Mix 1.5 cubic foot

This is excellent soil for my garden vegetables, herbs, and houseplants.

This soil is trash. You get what you pay for. The bag I had developed a swarm of fungus gnats that ruined plants that I transplanted for the winter. I grabbed the bag one day and a swarm puffed out. I froze it over the winter and then tossed this junk out at the bottom of a raised bed. Nothing grew, everything slowly died. It's almost impossible to get rid of fungus gnats - had to start over in the spring.

I purchased the soil because reading the reviews and information about it I felt it was what I needed for my garden. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised and very happy with the quality. I have had no trouble with this soil in my garden. Everything I planted came up beautifully.

I thought I would try ordering soil online for something different. My delivery man said it was the first time he delivered dirt, lol. It was decent compost soil, better than others. Caution to compare prices with local stores like Walmart and Fleetfarm for their sales.

I have been using Black Gold Organic Raised Bed Soil for years to produce healthy vigorous vegetables and berries. Since moving to a small town, I was not able to pick it up in the local hardware stores, so I bought a few bags on line. Same good product.

I have used Black Gold potting soil/mixes for many years. This product was a significant disappointment. The first bag that I opened was very damp and moldy. Cannot use. I used the second bag to pot a few annuals, but the wood chips, etc, did not allow for any water absorption, even after setting overnight in a tray of water. I cannot think of any practical use for the contents of the remaining bags. Perhaps as a fill for the bottom of large pots. I will continue to purchase Black Gold soil in the ORANGE (best) and RED bags-still my preference for potting soil.
