Efficient and effective cooler/dechaffer.
I bought this to cool my home-roasted coffee beans. Prior to this, I used a stainless steel colander to shake off the chaff, then transferred the beans into an aluminum bowl, which then went into a tray of ice to cool. This cooler is MUCH faster, much more efficient, and allows me to bring the beans down from roasting temperature much more quickly and reliably, which in turn gives me greater control over the end of the roast. My new method is to start the cooler running (to establish an air flow), then transfer the hot beans slowly into the top rack of the cooler. I then stir using a metal spoon, to allow the chaff to transit to the bottom of the tray, as well as to circulate the beans through the air stream. With this method, the beans come down to room temperature in about 2 minutes, give or take. Afterward, I transfer out the coffee and then empty both trays into the compost. Easy peasy. So far it works great. The fan is a bit loud, but not obnoxiously so. Also IMPORTANT: When the cooler arrives, there are 2 zip-ties securing the blades of the fan. Make sure to remove these before you turn it on!

Should have bought this year's ago
What a fantastic machine. I just got it and tried it on a few batches and it works brilliantly. I roast 250gr of coffee that yields 218gr roasted. This machine cools it in about a minute. The best part is there is zero chaff mess. The fan is small, but powerful. If there is any nit to pick, the on/off switch is tiny and I would prefer something more robust, but time will tell if that concern is valid. Overall, a great bean cooler for the money. I could not be more pleased.

Functions as expected but could be improved
Overall first impression was, boy this was packed well. Then after the unboxing I started thinking, this thing was over priced. It's the overall fit and finish that is lacking. The crimped edges of the screened trays looked very industrial, like something you might find on ductwork pieces at the hardware store. And even though the fan only draws 17 watts, I don't think they could have found a lighter gauge power cable. I immediately thought, there should be a lid included just to keep the screens clean when not in use. Don't get me wrong, it functions just fine, but seems to be $15-20 overpriced (IMHO).

Excellent Bean Cooler With 2 Screens to Separate Beans & Chaff
As a home coffee roaster amateur, I've been thinking about buying or building a coffee bean cooler for a while. My FreshRoast SR800 roaster has a "cool-down" cycle built in, but that requires lots of hand holding. The cycle maxes out at 3 minutes (which can be extended manually). If I'm roasting in the summer, outside, the "cooling" cycle just pulls 90+ °F air into an already HOT roasting chamber. Better than nothing, I guess.I wanted a bean cooler with two separate screens (a coarser screen to retain the beans, and a fine screen to retain the chaff). Some coolers here on Amazon just have a single screen to hold the beans, with NO secondary screen for the chaff (resulting in chaff shot out of the machine).Others (the most common version) have just the coarse screen for the beans in a round pan, and a secondary finer screen bolted into the base above the cooling fan. I guess that works, but it requires the user to remove the pan holding the beans, then lift/shake the entire base to dislodge chaff. Should dinky bits of chaff get embedded into the fine screen, you're SOL.The cooler I was looking for uses two separate pans/screens. The top pan/screen to hold the beans, and the bottom pan/fine screen to retain the chaff. The base (including the electric cooling fan) remains relatively clean of any chaff residue. Most 2-pan coffee bean coolers seem to cost 85-125 dollars. When I saw this unit a couple days ago, advertised for 60 or thereabouts, I went ahead & ordered it. Yes, I could have kludged something up from a kitchen colander, a cardboard box, and a shop-vac, but I didn't want to .At nearly 30 dollars lower than the "usual" 2-pan cooler, this is a "bargain."I also liked it since it was powered with a simple 110V cord/plug. Not any sort of low power "girly-man" USB adapter (as is used by some coolers). The included single page manual claims 45W power consumption. I measured it at 46W using my Kill-A-Watt power meter (look it up on Amazon).I roasted a 200g batch of Yirgacheffe beans (from Coffee Bean Corral, by the way), then dumped the finished beans into my spiffy new bean cooler.I used a wooden spoon to stir the beans as they were cooled (by air drawn down through the beans). After 1-2 minutes, they were cool to the touch. I hand stirred/squeezed/rubbed excess chaff off the beans after they'd cooled a while.VERY pleased with this cooler. While the fan blade sounds like it gently rubs the walls of the cooler during startup (then it settles down, but still worth losing one star from an otherwise 5 star rating), it met my needs.Top pan has a 5mm stainless steel mesh. Bottom pan has a 0.6mm stainless steel mesh.Buy it.

Cools beans very well
Product works great. Limited on space, and cool more than about a pound at a time. It’s a pretty slick tool, and I don’t regret my purchase.

Pretty cheap
This is a review - At first, I was really glad I purchased this item. It worked great - at first. Then, after about 8 months, I began having trouble with it. I would turn it on to start cooling the beans, and it would immediately turn off. Found that I had to keep my finger on the button to for it to keep running. Then this evening, it suddenly shot out electrical sparks that were quite hot. I immediately unplugged it. I am fortunate I did not have my hand on it at the moment, or I would have received an electrical shock.

Quickly cools hot roasted coffee beans
I'm currently roasting 200g of green beans to 464F. When I dump the hot beans in the top screen over the running fan and stir the beans with a wood spoon, they cool to room temperature in about 1 minute. That's really quick and makes this cooling fan an investment rather than a cost.

Solid construction and great cooling
This coffee bean cooler feels like a very sturdy unit and cools half a pound of hot beans very quickly. Its been a great upgrade for my coffee roasting hobby. Note that there are two screen included with this unit (not the case with all of the coffee bean coolers on here. Some apparently only have the fine mesh screen). Overall I am very pleased with this unit. The attached photo is with half a pound of beans, but it could hold a pound easily.
