very sturdy and easy to use
This is a great beach umbrella anchor. I bought an 8' beach umbrella and this anchor and they work well together even with the wind. If it's a little windy you just need to position the anchor tilted slightly into the wind- like you would for any umbrella setup. The screw blades at the tip work very nicely. They're not too close together/compact so it gets a nice grip in the sand. The handle is very sturdy and allows you to tightly screw it in the last few inches. There's a plastic screw to secure your umbrella at the top- other anchors have a metal screw that leaves marks on the umbrella. This one is especially nice since the screw is plastic and is much larger than the typical metal one.

Amazingly Simple and Worthy of Purchase
A very simple piece that simply works. They screw into the sand fairly easy and keep the umbrella in place. There is not much more you can say about these anchors. I used them over 4 days on Perdido Key in Florida and they withstood at least one day of stormy weather. In fact, the umbrella gave up the fight...not the anchor. A hearty storm blew up and flipped one of my umbrellas inside out. The anchors never moved. I was impressed and will give these units a permanent home in my beach gear. Buy them with confidence.

Awesome product!
Everyone needs one of these if you are going to the river or beach and taking your own umbrella. I was the only one who had one of these on our beach trip and my umbrella was the only one not falling over. Very easy to screw into the sand and very sturdy. Extremely pleased with purchase. Although the photo shows 2, note that there is only one per order.

Solid base in soft sand on a gusty, windy day
Screw is a bit tough to get down into deeper sand... I'm more of a pound-the-pole-down-with-a-mallet kind of guy. I wanted to try this out as an alternative that my wife would want to do on her own. For that purpose, not great. It's difficult to screw down. You have to get the anchor so deep that the screw is touching the sand. Then it won't break like those other reviewers discovered the hard way.Securing the umbrella pole... In order to ensure the umbrella didn't blow away, I had to willingly dent my new beach umbrella (using pressure on the anchor screw) to create a "receiver" that would build enough friction to keep the screw tight. Not too happy about that aspect, but because of the dent, it gripped the umbrella pole tight enough to prevent upward wind from carrying the umbrella away.Design-wise, the sand screw part should have a slightly coarser thread (faster screwing, easier, but still secure). The pole screw, with which you hold the umbrella, should have a much finer thread to allow greater friction. If you have a thick pole, this won't hold unless you screw tight and dent the pole. Other suggestion is a small bit of rubber on the screw tip, but that could increase cost...Please with performance - held up for hours with steady wind, just not happy I had to dent my pole for sufficient grip.

Nice sturdy design that holds an umbrella perfectly
This beach umbrella anchor is simple to use and really holds the umbrella well even in stiff winds. Well worth the money, especially after watching other people digging in the sand trying to get their umbrella's to stand up. Took less than a minute or two and I was set up and good to go for the day.

Worth the buy!
You’ll be good using this at the beach on a windy day. Very easy to use in the sand. Umbrella did not budge. So happy about this purchase.

No frills anchor
It holds the umbrella and goes into the sand, but it takes a lot of effort. We used these for some recent beach excursions. The anchors should be a little more sloped so they 'drill' into the sand better. You have to really lean on them to get them more than half-way into the sand. Once in, though, they do a good job of holding the umbrellas. We have some 15-20mph winds on the beach and the umbrellas collapsed, but stayed in place thanks to these. You're not going to get any frills on this product. It is basically 3-4 plastic pieces out of a mold and thrown together. Probably cost $0.15 to make in an overseas factory. Overall, they work with some effort, but they could be designed better for easier use.

Does what it should
This thing held its own at the beach this summer. Could you crack the handles if you're not careful? Sure, but we were careful and it made it through a windy week with no issues. The handles don't fold down, so it's not the smallest thing to store until next season, but it's not really a big deal either. All in all a solid purchase.
