I'm actually surprised this product isn't reviewed more positively! I have very oily hair and haven't had good luck with the aerosolized products, they just seem to make my hair more oily (and I have tried plenty). Baby powder works fairly well but it never quite looks as clean and since I have dark brown hair it makes me look grey. This product does add some grit / thickness to your hair (even when using very sparingly like you should) so it might not be great for thick hair, but I can't recommend it enough for thin hair, its great! I have never been able to go without washing my hair daily unless I just put up with a greasy look, now I can actually go 3 days and my hair actually looks like I just washed it! The trick is to use the bottle tilted half way and tap to get a little bit to come out on the roots (not the scalp/part), then use a fine comb to distribute it. If you touch your head, yes you will get the colored powder on your hands a little bit but I haven't had any problems with it coming off on shirts or anything. Some people have complained that the bottle is small, and it is but you only need a little. I am only 2/3 of the way through the bottle over 6 months after buying, and I use it at least 3-4 times a week. Its a miracle worker for thin hair that gets greasy easily! Pros: - quick, easy to use once you get the hang of it. - best dry shampoo I've found for thin, oily hair - slight clean scent - hair looks like it was just washed! - color blends in well (at least for brown hair) Cons: - if you get it on your scalp its a little hard to run off - can't run fingers through your hair without getting brown stuff under your nails - thickens your roots so probably not great for thick hair Highly recommend and I will continue to buy!

While this hair powder does camouflage a little greying at the roots and helps fluff hair up a bit between shampoos, it is very messy. It does smell nice, but it makes hair feel really dirty. You won't want to touch your hair, and if you do your fingers will be dark brown (in my case). Used it the other day and by the end of the day it was all over my forehead. Thankfully I have bangs so it was not noticeable. It is also hard to apply, you need a small stiff brush to get it distributed by the roots.

Good: It does the job. Color options. Not so good: I don't like the smell. I wish it was odor-free. It makes me paranoid that I smell like an old lady's perfume. I even avoided getting too close to my husband. Bad: It stains the nails. Of course you can wash your nails after application but the product made my scalp itchy so I had to scratch unconsciously and before I knew it, my nails would be disgustingly dark. Not cool. I only used this product once, it's unlikely I'll use it again. I think I'll stick with baby powder.

I just received this a few weeks ago and have tried it a few times. It works well when your hair is oily! I normally have to wash my hair every day because it gets oily half way through day 2. But now, I can sprinkle a bit of this powder on and I can go 2 days without washing! It blends well with my medium-brown hair. It smells nice. The only thing I don't like, is that if I run my fingers through my hair or scratch my scalp, I get brown powder under my fingernails. So, I have to be careful not to touch my hair too much. The previous reviewer is correct: don't use too much. I made this mistake the first time I used this powder and it was "everywhere!" I highly recommend this, especially for women/men with oily hair. Update: I have found a product I like better. It is a dry shampoo and comes in spray form, much like hair spray. I LOVE this dry shampoo. Amazon sells it. Search " Batiste Dry Shampoo." I LOVE this hair powder. I've been using it for about 7 years now. In a 7 year time period, I have literally only on my third container, and that's with consistent use. A little goes a long way! The biggest issue I've had with dry shampoos is that most aren't colored and make my brown hair take on a mousey grey hue. In searching for a solution, I found this hair powder. I have very naturally oily skin, which also makes my scalp very oily. I typically shower in the morning and by 5 or 6 PM I've got oil buildup on the top of my scalp. A little bit of this hair powder takes all the oil away and gives me a refreshed look! You definitely want to apply this stuff in a bathroom near a sink. If there's one con to the product, it's that application can be messy until you get the process down. You can either add it to your hand or directly to your scalp. I prefer to sprinkle it on my hand as I then have a little bit more control over where is goes (and can more easily avoid getting it on my forehead and face). I literally then just rub it into my hair and it looks (and smells!) like I just showered. It also gives me a little and much needed volume boost. Yes, you will have to wash your hands afterward, but that's not a big deal. The container is also awesome and compact and fits perfectly into my purse so I can take it with me wherever I go!

I just purchased this product and not only is it messy, but it did absolutely nothing to reduce my scalp oils. It didn't make a difference how much I put on or how hard I worked it in...in fact my hair almost felt greasier after using it. I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone wanting to reduce scalp oils, unless maybe you wash your hair every other day...

I was a bit hesitant to try because of reviews. After using it for a week I can say this is the best dry shampoo I have tried. Ok, I know it says hair powder, but to me it does the same thing as dry shampoo. I have fine brunette hair. Volume is an issue. Finley gives me both volume and clean feel and look. Sold. Yes it’s a powder, so if you dump it on your head as a salt or pepper shaker, you will get it on your clothes or skin. I use it over a sink, don’t have problems with skin staining. Any residuals ending up in the sink easy to clean up. Keratene brunette shampoo stained my skin, so this one to me is no messier, but works a LOT better.

I was hoping to love this product but it is just "ok". It is difficult to apply...the powder puffs out of the bottle but you have to repeatedly turn the bottle upside down and then too much comes out, often getting in my ears. Then I am stuck q-tipping brown powder out of my ears. As for removing greasiness, it is again, just "ok". It helps but doesn't do any miracles. The smell is lovely though. That part I do like.
