Gabriela, clavo y canela es la historia de Ilhéus, un pueblo brasileño dominado por los "Coroneles" del cacao. Esta llena de personajes pintorescos, historias amenas, chismes de pueblo y sobre todo mucho humor. Parte de todas estas historias, es el amor entre Nacib y Gabriela.Todo este conjunto hace una lectura super entretenida, el cual mantiene el ritmo a travez de todo el libro. El lenguaje aunque hace uso de términos regionales es fácil de leer.Frases Destacadas:- “El amor eterno no existe. Hasta la mas fuerte pasión tiene su tiempo de vida. Llega su hora, se acaba, nace otro amor.” (Pág. 283)- “Hay ciertas flores ... que son hermosas perfumadas mientras están en los tallos, en los jardines. Cuando se las pone en jarrones, aunque sean de plata, se marchitan y mueren.” (Pág. 293)- “No sentía odio ni amor. Un dolor, no más.” (Pág. 387)Ha sido una sorpresa muy agradable leer a Jorge Amado, lleno de historias entretenidas, personajes bien trabajados, diálogos estupendos. De lo mejor que he leído en meses.

It was definitely literature so much of the writing was charming in style.  Repetitious themes and even phrases.  Unnecessary emphasis on themes of gender role differences ("we get it already!)
