Good support, but flimsy. Won't last.
I've had a number of these types of sleeve-wrap ankle supports. I'd love to give this one more stars, but the sleeve itself is so flimsy that I almost put my finger through it the first time I used it. I've worn it a dozen times now, and it's fraying in places. The straps seems decent, and I haven't had any problems with the velcro area of the strap, but it is a rather small fastening area, and I could see that if it lost a little of it's adhesion, you'd probably have to chuck the whole thing. It is hard to find anything made well anymore.

Perfect for moderate support!
These are perfect for moderate ankle support! I use them playing tennis and they provide just the right amount of support without the weight and bulk of the heavy support wraps. I bought a pair of the lace-up wraps and they are way too bulky for me (picture your ankle in a cast and then trying to put a shoe on..). These Shock Doc wraps are simple (really quick to get them on) and light weight. The black also looks good on, unlike the other really bulky wraps. Very happy with purchase.

Very painful - straps too long - not as good as Tru-Fit or McDavid models
I give it a one star rating because I'm sure that there are some athletes out there that find the Shock Doctor model ok (or maybe sponsored by Shock Doctor and will give the rating 5 stars). I do not; this elastic wrap over a thin mesh fabric is simply not as good and comfortable as the similar ankle wraps by Tru-Fit or McDavid....see my comments and reviews of the Tru-Fit ankle wrap for a more detailed and complete review.I tried these from Dicks Sporting Goods when Dicks started clearing out their TruFit and McDavid products and replacing all of their sports medicine products with the Shock Doctor line. Personally, I think the Tru-Fit and McDavid products are superior (and more expensive). The two biggest problems with the Shock Doctor model is (1) the straps are too long and too thin/narrow and (2) the fabric underneath your foot does not distribute and spread out the support force across your arch. There is not enough fabric and the straps are thinnner/narrow so the area that gets pulled upward under your arch is much more localized.....to me, creating a lot more discomfort. I honestly could not wear these for more than an hour. I play competitive USTA tennis for 2-3 days a week for 2-3 hours each session. I honestly had to remove them after the firs set the very first time I put them on. Also the straps are too long so you end up wrapping more the straps around your upper ankle and achilles tendon area.....again, causing too much compression on the tendon.Sometimes, it's just best to copy someone else's better design and put your name on the plastic package and try to sell for a few dollars less. If you want a better adjustable ankle wrap that provides medium/moderate support, I would strongly recommend you give the Tru-Fit or McDavid models a try.

Two Tough Mudders and many miles later!
I've trained with this sleeve running mountains, doing lunges, running flats, and sprinting. This fits easily and comfortably with my Mizuno, Saucony, and Nike running shoes. I've done two Tough Mudders with this thing on, and it has not been bothersome. It needs to be worn snugly, but not too much so. I've even washed it several times, and it continues to hold up. It supported my ankle, and it helped it heal. My current one has had it, so I just ordered another one. This is the type that Dick's carries, but for a better price. Make sure you measure your ankle and get the right size. See Shock Doctor's website for accurate sizing information.

I like it
I've had ankle problems since middle school basketball...I've owned a few ankle braces over the years and this is my favorite. extremely thin and lightweight...I like that you have to measure yourself to get the right fit.My ankle problems go from none to not being able to walk a day after a hard workout... This is the only brace that has ever given me any type of confidence in my ankle and it's probably the most durable and lightweight. I think the compression sleeve while not really popular with ankle braces makes a HUGE difference. It's kept my insertional tendonits at bay for 6 month.Worth the money, originally got it a Dicks but I'm going to get a couple in different colors and might try the more expensive models.
