Don't worry you're not a bad cat parent to use this - these low ratings are bunk
got this because it was super chead, compared to what i get (advantage) - the main ingredient is different. i trusted the brand name because i have friends and relatives with dogs. Put it on my American tabby 28 hours ago - none of his fur fell off, he did heave a bit but 2 pieces of meow mix was the only result, other then that he clearly wanted me to pet his back where it was applied - but i didn't and he acted as normal. I had seen 1 flea - i got this stuff and when he was sitting on me earlier today i literally watched 2 hop on him and killed them. whatever is in this stuff it seems to work by instant rejection by the flea (the 2 i killed literally hoped from our front door onto him and onto me where i squished them (they seemed stunned?). anyway, it works and he is fine.

Trash. DO NOT BUY!!!
Seriously, don't buy these. You might as well squirt water instead of this crap. You think you're getting a great deal because it's $5 or whatever, but it isn't worth a f***ing penny. I would choose to keep the penny. It doesn't do anything but upset your cat and it doesn't kill fleas. I don't know what the hell they put in this formula but it doesn't do a damn thing. It's trash. Not a single flea was harmed. I have no idea why anyone would give this a good review. If I could give this less than one star, I would. Please, for the love of God, don't buy this. Do not listen to positive reviews. I put this on more than one cat and nothing happened and I'd be willing to bet that it's not going to work for you either. Yes, it sucks paying more for flea treatments, but it's better than throwing money out the window which is what I did here. I have no idea why a company would go through the trouble of manufacturing a product that doesn't do what it says it does. It's baffling. I can't stress enough how bad this stuff is, but hey, it's your money. Just don't say that I didn't warn you. It's absolute trash.

Use with caution
Some cats definitely don't react well to etofenprox, and you want to make absolutely sure the cat can't reach the application site with their tongue. There's one reason to buy this product over competitors: it's cheap. It does kill adult fleas, but not eggs, and not as well as essentially any other common flea spot medication. It seems more irritating to the skin. It is of a chemical class, pyrethroids, in which most other chemicals are extremely acutely toxic to cats. Hartz argues the differences (no cyclopropane, α-cyano, or halo-functional groups) decrease toxicity to mammals. I'm not sure whether it's still metabolized by glucuronidation, but regardless, it is less effective and less well-tolerated than competitors. That is why market forces have rendered it cheap; it wouldn't sell if it were priced similar to other chemicals. If you:(1) Have lots of cats, and/or(2) have cat(s) you know have tolerated it well in the past, and(3) need to save money, and(4) trust yourself to apply it where you cat(s) can't reach it, and they aren't unusually flexible cats, then this may be the product for you. What I have done, having a large number of cats, is apply it to one at a time, and observe them. Sometimes, I have had to wash it off because of hyperactivity, yowling, hiding, and other similar fear and stress responses. If a cat has this reaction, I wash it quickly and thoroughly with gentle soap and warm water until the greasy spot is no longer visible and the smell has dissipated. And I cross that cat off the list for etofenprox, and they get the more deluxe stuff from then on.If I had fewer cats or more money, I would not use this product. But fleas can cause serious complications, and in my experience, cautious, limited use of this product can be safe and effective. It does, by the way, smell absolutely terrible, like an ochem lab where someone knocked over a chemical shelf. It's not like other solvents that, in light doses, are pleasant to some people, like the light smell of gasoline reminding of old big-block carbureted engines. It's piercing, and terrible. That's another reason not to use it, but you're not considering this product because you think it might be the best, so just keep the balancing factors in mind.

does its job
one cat hates these and is sensitive (skin-wise) to them... but work well... other cats have no problem with them.. no other adverse reactions- but we do avoid with that one cat.

Does not work
Cats still have fleas. The products smells really strong and the cats did not like it, other brands do not seem to bother them when applied, this one did, for both cats.I brush them daily with a flea comb and I still find fleas.Avoid.

Way too strong
I've used similar products and the amount of liquid is less and I never felt such a strong smell from them. This one was just too strong and too much. My cat became restless after application and she puked about 1 hour after application.
