Q: Magnets stick to my fridge. WIl this stick to the side of my fridge & then have knives stick to it?

I see there is conflicting info on this Q&A thread, so I wanted to add my experience. For me the knife bar does stick quiet strongly to both the front and the side of my fridge with the magnet alone, no screws used. I have three knives on it now and they feel secure. It seems secure enough that I could add more knives, except all I own are three. It has only been two days, but I'm very happy with the product so far.

Q: Has anyone mounted without screws? I want to attach it to the tile backsplash but don't want to drill through them. Thanks.

Yes! I have glass subway tiles and didn't want to drill into the grout lines. I used double sided Gorilla Tape to adhere the metal backing plate to the tile. Works perfectly, but be VERY careful attaching the magnet side, it snapped out of my fingers and hit the tile really hard, it didn't break but it sure could have. I have a set of 10 knives on mine with two large chefs knives.

Q: Would it be possible to mount this to tile with adhesive rather than screws?

Yes, this is how I mounted my 16 inch with. The command heavy duty 16lb adhesives were perfect for this, they're velcro and strong. I used two on each side. The bar, and strips, and knives have stayed put since I put them up.

Q: Is this the same product as the Ikea Grundtal knife magnet? Because one of the photos shown is directly from the Ikea catalogue.

I have an IKEA knife magnet bar that I'm looking to replace. It holds my knives well, but there are spaces along the bar that are not magnetized for some reason. If I place a knife in that location it falls to the counter. This Modern Innovations looks like it will work better.
