The rubber protective casing doing a great job of guarding against damage to the gauge. The operation is straight forward, press the nozzle straight onto the valve and read the pressure on the gauge, it holds the reading until it released with a small valve on the base of the unit. Follow their suggestion as for best accuracy buy the gauge with expected tire pressure range is in the middle of the rage of the gauge that operates over. In my case is 32 to 42 psi, between my car (VW) and motorcycle (Yamaha), so I purchased the 60 psi version.1/2/2017 Update. The only issue encountered is with it is that the rubber hose at the base of the gauge came undone (un-screwed) and two small disk fell out from that interface. It turned out that these two pieces are responsible for keeping the pressure on the gauge so that it can display the tire pressure that was just measured. The orientation which way it faces and the order of the two disks matters to the functionality of the gauge. One is a rubber disk the other is clear plastic. I only know this because my came loose and took me a couple of tries to put it back in the right order. I would advise you to make sure that the stem is adequately tightened to the rest of the body of the gauge. The junction where the rubber hose meet the end of the stem, make sure the it twist freely. Mine didn't at the time, which caused the stem to come apart. It's all good now, I like it, don't hesitate to buy it. Great gauge!Update 9.1.16 - downgrading to 4 as it does NOT have the little nozzle poker to let air OUT when there is too much.Now need to have another unit in my pocket for this. arggghhhh...Update 11.3.17 - actually you can release air from this - was my fault. BUUUT downgrading to a 2 now. Why, 2 of these have failed within a year, 2, hard to believe. I only use them twice a month on 2 cars, so it gets very little use, yet 2 have died.... they're great till it goes kaput.However, Qeeph company gets a 5 star! They gave me 1 new one. Then when I told them the replacement died, they refunded my money! And they get back to me almost immediately!! Went to use it the other day and it no longer holds the pressure. The needle goes down as soon as you disengage from the tire.
