I bought a few Manfrotto heads for my carbon tripods, I tend to shoot birds out of hides a lot so I need good tripods for my big telephoto lenses and also light tripods.I put this head on a befree carbon tripod and i have to say it`s really nice, could be smoother but still..

Out of the box the head unit is very compact. took a few minuted to understand how to use it (without reading the manual though helpful wasn't a lot of use to me). It is quite easy to figure out. The arms lock into place when no in use but have to be loosened to manoeuvre the head. the do lock the camera in place. Movement is smooth though it does have its limitations with a longer lens in place. On the whole is it worth the money I would say yes as it is great for travelllng with if you can put up with its limited play.

Nice tripod head but let down by instructions

the Tilt Lock Knob snapped after few times of use - really thin and delicate....replacement costs £40! so i guess head is going to the binOther thing is that pan knob is very small and does not allow proper tightening ...I love Manfrotto products but this one is rubbish overall ....

I originally had a Benro G3 ball head. It was good when I needed a ball head, but now that I’m taking more videos, the ball head isn’t adequate. I needed a pan head that is portable, but has a fluid drag. It didn’t have to be big or support a lot of weight, but it needed to be smooth on all axis. The Manfrotto Befree 3-Way Travel Head looked like it might fit the bill.When I got it I was pleasantly surprised. As advertised, each axis (X,Y,Z) has fluid drag making them exceptionally smooth when panning. The controls are easy to operate, tighten or loosen with a single twist and lock it with a quarter twist more. I have it mounted on my Benro graphite travel tripod and the combination is rock steady.What I really like is that the head packs down nicely. The longest arm breaks down with a flip and locks in place. Rotate the shorter arm and the head is quite compact. I’ll have o wait and see how it holds up under harsher environments, but I feel confident that it’ll preform well.If you’re looking for a very good lightweight head for video panning that is also packable, this is the one to get.

Un peu juste pour moi,surtout avec de bonnes mains. Elle me sert occasionnellement si je dois travailler avec 2 pieds. Un peu fautif, je pense que le matériel est de bonne qualité .

buon prodotto. piccolo,maneggevole e abbastanza stabile. fa il suo dovere quando si vuole rimanere leggeri e quindi non portarsi dietro pesi e attrezzature più voluminose. tutto è rapportato al prezzo ma la qualità e solidità del cavalletto e della testa vale la spesa.

I was surprised that adding it to Manfrotto Be Free GT4 Carbon it is a winning combination for travel in general. If you want photo and video same time this is your formula. The drag is smooth, mostly all parts are metal. The idea of folding the head like this is genial. The price is good for the obtained quality. The mount and the plate make all the money. For compact and decent weight full frame cameras is a good option. Remember that not only the head must support the weight, but also the tripod. So check your gear first before buying anything.
